MUMBAI: Kalpataru Limited was conferred with the CREDAI CSR Award 2017 for its contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility in the field of Clean India. Kalpataru Limited received the award from Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India for conducting various initiatives like Hamara Station Hamari Shaan, Majhe Thane Sundar Thane and Swachh Bharat Pakhwada to support Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
Kalpataru has been a facilitator for several initiatives which support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. It has been mindful of its responsibilities towards creating awareness about cleaner neighbourhoods and public spaces.
Kalpataru supported the creative makeover of 4 railway stations on the Central and Western suburban lines in Mumbai, under the “Hamara Station Hamari Shaan” a joint initiative of ‘Mumbai FIRST’ and ‘Making A Difference’ in collaboration with the Western and Central Railways, held during Daan Utsav. Kalpataru reached out to thousands of citizens, including other corporates, Kalpataru’ s housing societies spread across Mumbai and Thane, and KORUM Mall in Thane to create awareness about the initiative. Through Sparsh (Kalpataru’s employee volunteering program), over 200 employees from Kalpataru volunteered for the cleaning and painting of booking windows, platform entrances, railings and foot over-bridges to transform the look and feel of the stations. With the total painted area estimated to be close to one lakh square feet, the initiative involved beautification of station areas through thematic paintings that capture the flavour of the station and its surrounds. This was one of the largest city wide initiative where more than 25000 Volunteers participated.
Kalpataru Group joined hands with the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) for the “Majhe Thane Sunder Thane” (My City Clean City) initiative, in keeping with the nationwide Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. To support this campaign, Kalpataru reached out to its residential societies Siddhachal and Tarangan and more than 300 volunteers from Kalpataru Ltd & KORUM Mall extended their support to this endeavour that rendered the neighbourhood clean.
As part of contributing towards upkeep of the areas surrounding its project sites, Kalpataru carries out cleaning of the adjoining slum areas Cleaning of storm water drains, fogging for mosquito control and larvicidal control treatment were conducted for the benefit of the residents in these areas.
Kalpataru also supported 10 families (rural households) with sanitation infrastructure in the form of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) in Cheravali, Waje and Vakadi village in the Panvel taluka. The project had several implementation stages like raising awareness about sanitation, ensuring ownership of the toilets, construction with quality, engaging with the beneficiaries to reinforce messages of sanitation and conducting periodic visits to ensure appropriate usage of the unit.
