To promote permanent method of family planning, in partnership with Govt. health department Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) conducted a Family Planning Camp at Libra village of Tamnar in the Raigarh District of Chhattisgarh.

RAIGARH: Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) and Primary Health Centre, Libara and Tamnar, organised a mega family planning camp at village Libra, in Tamnar Block of Raigarh on December 15, 2013. In all, 148 women underwent tubectomy at the camp.
Camp was held with support of Govt. District health department, Raigarh.
A free medical camp was also organized on this occasion for the local populace, wherein free medicines were distributed.
Sanjeev Chauhan, Associate Vice President-CSR & Public Relations, JSPL, Raigarh informed INDIACSR that Family Planning Camp has received a positive response from the local women. Women from 24 village including village Saraitola, Rabo, Saraipali, Jarekela, Jobro, Milupara of JSPL Gare 4/6 coal mines area The Doctors from the primary health centre performed surgeries on approx 147 ladies during the camp.
Ladies were provided with free medical treatment. A counseling was also conducted for aged women between 20 to 40 years by the Dr Anil Kushwaha, BMO, Tamnar. Dr Kushwaha added that education in this region has played a major role in contributing towards health awareness amongst the local populace.
Satyarakash, Vice President, Gare 4/6 Coal mines, JSPL said that we are committed to promote population stabilization programme in coal mines area in very systematic manner.
“Rural healthcare and support is a prime area of the organizations concern. The most unique aspects of JSPL’s health initiatives include family planning camps in and around the company’s plants in Chhattisgarh.”, Dayanand Awasthi, Sr. Manager-CSR, JSPL coal mines said.
“In the last 10 years, this was only family planning camp held in Libra Primary Health Centre, where 148 women adopted family planning.”, he added.
Family planning camps have been organized for individuals willing to undergo birth control operations. Other activities include distribution of condoms and education on its usage through Mobile Medical Vans, propagation of the merits of Family Planning through various Adult Education programmes etc.
