RAIGARH: Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) organised awareness program “Healthy Baby Show” under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities here in Gorkha, a small village near plant, on Thursday.
54 mothers along with their kids, age group of 6 month to 2 years, participated in the program. Total No. of Participants– 54 kids (6months to 2 years). This “Healthy Baby Show” was organised with the objective to encourage parents to be attentive towards regular immunisations , cleanliness, smartness, nutrition of infant.
It was to create awareness among mothers on post natal care and recognise them for their sincerity towards upbringing the kid in scientific and carefulness.
Dr. Gourav Thukral, Chief Operating Officer of Fortis-OP Jindal Hospital; Dr. Monoj Chandra, a Senior Child Specialist and Dr. Sanjeev Goyal, a renowned Senior Child Specialist were the Judges of this program.
All the doctors advised the mothers on the importance of the immunization, cleanliness, smartness of child in their growth. They emphasized on nothing other than breast feeding to child for at least 6 months and not to follow unscientific superstitious activities with child. They requested mothers present their to promote institutional delivery in each case.
“Today it was a great learning for us. Around 30% of the participants’ parents have neglected immunisation of their kids. The cleanliness of many children was poor. Therefore these indicators are directing our interventions towards healthy behaviour and post natal care towards children in our villages.” Mr. Bibhu Prasad Mohanty, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR), JSPL said INDIACSR.
“Our next steps will be to strengthen the awareness programs on life skill development education, ante natal and post natal care of infants, cleanliness, immunisation, etc under our health initiatives. It was observed that Anganwadi workers need more orientation to be proactive in our villages’ too.” he added.
In subsequent periods these baby shows in different villages will be used to monitor over all immunisation of kids in villages, creating awareness among mothers regarding child care and recognise their sincerity and labour by rewarding and recognising their healthy children.
Dr. Z.K Ansari, Manager CSR, Ms. Rashmi Swarnaker, Mr. Goutam Pradhan, Mr. Chhatar and Mr. Hussain helped in organizing this show successfully.
