ANGUL/BHUBANEWSWAR: The 68th Independence Day of India was celebrated amidst pomp and valor in all business locations across Odisha by the Steel Maker Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL). At its Angul Facilities, Executive Director (I/c) & Location Head of JSPL, Mr. DK Saraogi unfurled the tricolour at the Independence Day celebration programme at OP Jindal School, after accepting guard of honour presented by the Security personnel.
He read out the Independence Day message of JSPL’s Chairman Mr. Naveen Jindal to the gathering that includes JSPL employees, their family members, local Community and the school children.
“We are a fortunate Generation as we now breathe freely in a free Country and today is the Day each one of us should remember with pride that this freedom is the invaluable gift by the Freedom Fighters and Martyrs who have sacrificed their life for the freedom of our Motherland. It is a matter of glory and pride that JSPL has been contributing significantly towards the development of Independent India through responsible industrialization and effective partnership with the People and the Government towards holistic development the Society” said Mr. Naveen Jindal in his message.
Mr. DK Saraogi, in his address, said, “Pursuing the vision of our founder Babuji Sri OP Jindal, we are building a mega steel plant at Angul. This project, as a modern temple of livelihood, has significantly enhanced the Quality of life of the local Community here”. He also thanked the local community for their support and active participation in building the plant and congratulated various departments for their achievements and success. Mr. Saraogi also felicitated four students of Jindal Vidyapitha, R&R Colony for their selection to Sports Hostel, Bhubaneswar. Mrs. Sujata Saraogi, President of Jindal Mahila Samiti, Angul was also present on the dais during the award and felicitation programme.
Students of OP Jindal School staged brilliant cultural programme, drawing applause from the audience. Security personnel and other officials were awarded for their bravery and achievements during the year.
The students of Jindal Vidyapith at R&R Colony also celebrated Independence Day with a lot of fun and fervor. Mr. BB Pradhan, AVP (Personnel) of JSPL hoisted the flag.
Senior functionaries like Mr. NS Rao(Executive Director – Projects), Mr. Damodar Mittal (EVP- DRI), Dr. Saroj Mahapatra (VP-HR), Mr. Ashish Pandey (DGM – Projects), Captain Ajit Singh (Chief Security Officer) and Mr. CD Mathew (VP – HR), Principal Mr. Chhanda Charan Das and Head Mistress Mrs. Deeptirekha Das and the CSR Team of JSPL made inspiring contribution for enabling the Community , employees and Security Personnel becoming the core ingredients of this day long patriotic celebration.
Like every year, in order to reach the school children in local area, JSPL’s CSR Team distributed biscuits/sweets among about 26500 children of 100 local schools and 64 Anganwadi Centres.
In its State Office at Bhubaneswar, Mr. Prashant Hota, Odisha Head of Corporate Communication hoisted the National Flag and read out the Independent Day Message of the Chairman Sri Naveen Jindal. Mr. Hota reiterated that inclusive development will be possible if Industry, Agriculture and Services grow with synergy. JSPL also distributed the tricolor wrist bands and lapel pinning national flags to the Security officials, Ground Airlines staffs and Visitors in Bhubaneswar Airport to share the exuberance of Country’s Independence Day. Delivering a Message on the 68th Independence Day, Mr. Subrat Ratho, Head of Odisha Operation of JSPL said “Odisha, in view of its rich and varied resources , has the potential of attracting huge investments in value addition Industries and JSPL , as a responsible Corporate Citizen is committed to partner with the Government for innovative development schemes to benefit the people in the areas where JSPL has a presence”.
At Barbil, Mr. TS Shanbhogue hoisted the National Flag in the campus of Pelletisation Plant and OP Jindal School, Barbil. He presented the awards to the staff members and workers for their achievements in the year. The Company distributed sweets among 14000 children in local schools.
Mrs. Sharmistha Nanda, President of Jindal Mahila Samiti (Tensa Unit) hoisted the National Flag at Tensa Iron Ore Mines. Debate, Fancy Dress and Song competition on various themes was held among the school children and Jindal Mahila Samiti members.
