KEONJHAR (Odisha): The rural sport talents of Barbil & Sialijoda in Keonjhar district supported & promoted by JSPL Barbil Unit have once again excelled in National Level Championship.
The Kick-Boxing team comprising the rural sports talents of Sialijoda Village under Deojhar Gram Panchyat in Joda Block of Keonjhar district have bagged three Gold Medals in the 21st Sub-Junior & Junior and 22nd Senior National Championship-2016 held at Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi of Kerala.
Gura Munda participated (51KG), Ramesh Munda (54 KG) and Sukanti Munda (56 KG/Female) in Full Contact category have bagged Gold medals in the prestigious National Championship.
Sukanti Munda has also been conferred with best Female Fighter trophy in the prestigious National Championship. Around 650 participants from 22 states participated in this National Championship. Under able guidance of Coach Pankaj Mohanta the rural talents participated in the National Championship held at Kochi.
Congratulating the sports icons of Barbil & Sialijoda, EVP & Unit Head Shri T S Shanbhogue has said, “It is a matter of pride for Barbil and JSPL Foundation that the rural talents have won laurels in the National Championship.
Similarly, AVP and Head HR & ES – Alok Malhotra congratulating the medal winners expressed immense pleasure over their superb performance in the National Championship.
It may be noted here that about 80 tribal students (boys and girls from age group of 7 -14 years) from the villages of Deojhar panchayat are learning and practicing Kick-Boxing and Wushu under Coach Pankaj Mahanta over the past six years at Sialijoda.
These talents have also participated in many National Level championships and brought laurels.
Vergil Lakra, Head CSR of JSPL Barbil Unit said that JSPL Foundation Barbil have been promoting these popular sports among tribal youth by providing all sort of infrastructure and coaching facilities for the rural sports talents to shine in National & International level.
