Jayaswal Neco Industries CSR Spending Report of Rs 17.15 Crore for FY25

NEW DELHI (India CSR): In many parts of rural India, access to basic services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure continues to influence everyday life. For communities living near industrial regions, support through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives can bring meaningful and lasting change. According to the company’s annual report, Jayaswal Neco Industries Limited has taken a structured approach to its social commitments in the financial year 2024-25. The company reported CSR spending of around Rs 17.15 crore during the year, exceeding its statutory requirement. This investment was directed toward key areas such as rural development, healthcare, education, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability. The report highlights that the company focused on both immediate needs, like medical support and sanitation, and long-term development through infrastructure and skill-building initiatives. Through these efforts, Jayaswal Neco aimed to improve living conditions and create sustainable impact across underserved communities.

CSR Obligation and Overall Spending

As per the Companies Act, 2013, companies are required to spend at least 2% of their average net profit from the previous three financial years on CSR activities. According to the annual report, Jayaswal Neco Industries Limited had a CSR obligation of approximately Rs 16.32 crore for FY 2024-25.

After adjusting for set-offs from previous years, the net obligation stood at about Rs 15.98 crore. However, the report states that the company spent Rs 17.15 crore during the year. This resulted in an excess spending of around Rs 1.18 crore, which will be carried forward for future CSR requirements.

The annual report highlights that this higher spending reflects the company’s approach of going beyond compliance to support community development.

Strong Focus on Rural Development

Rural development emerged as the largest area of CSR spending. According to the report, around Rs 9.13 crore was allocated toward rural infrastructure and development projects.

These initiatives focused on improving basic facilities in villages, including access to clean water, electricity, and community infrastructure. The report states that over 95,000 individuals benefited from these efforts.

Key activities included the installation of solar street lights, construction of community facilities, and development of water supply systems such as borewells and pumps. These interventions aim to improve quality of life and support long-term development in rural areas.

Investments in Aspirational Districts

A major part of the CSR strategy was directed toward aspirational districts in Chhattisgarh, particularly Kanker and Narayanpur. According to the annual report, significant funds were allocated to these regions.

The report highlights that Rs 3.05 crore was spent in Kanker district, while Rs 8.56 crore was invested in Narayanpur district. These areas are considered underdeveloped and require focused intervention.

The company’s initiatives in these districts included infrastructure development, community support programs, and livelihood initiatives. The report suggests that targeting such regions helps create deeper and more meaningful impact.

Healthcare and Sanitation Initiatives

Healthcare remained a key pillar of CSR spending. According to the annual report, around Rs 4.09 crore was spent on healthcare and sanitation initiatives.

These programs included organizing medical camps, providing free medicines, and offering ambulance services. The report states that over 71,000 individuals benefited from healthcare initiatives during the year.

Sanitation efforts were also part of the program. The company supported waste management initiatives and construction of sanitation facilities, including toilets in rural areas.

These efforts aim to improve public health and reduce the spread of diseases.

Education and Skill Development

Education and skill development were also important focus areas. According to the annual report, around Rs 1.09 crore was spent on education-related initiatives.

The report highlights that these programs benefited over 13,000 individuals. Activities included providing school infrastructure support, distributing study materials, and offering scholarships.

In addition, skill development programs were conducted to help young individuals gain employable skills. These initiatives aim to improve long-term economic opportunities.

Women Empowerment and Community Support

Women empowerment formed another key component of CSR activities. According to the report, over 10,000 women benefited from various initiatives during the year.

Programs included skill training, support for self-help groups, and awareness campaigns. These initiatives aim to improve income opportunities and social status for women in rural areas.

The report highlights that such programs contribute to inclusive growth by ensuring that women are active participants in development.

Promotion of Sports and Culture

The company also supported sports and cultural initiatives. According to the annual report, around Rs 53 lakh was spent on sports activities.

These initiatives reached over 15,000 individuals, particularly in rural areas. The company also supported cultural programs aimed at preserving local traditions.

Such activities help strengthen community bonds and promote talent at the grassroots level.

Environmental Sustainability Efforts

Environmental sustainability was another important area of focus. According to the report, around Rs 55 lakh was spent on environmental initiatives.

These included tree plantation drives and efforts to improve green cover in areas near the company’s operations. The report states that thousands of trees were planted during the year.

In addition to CSR initiatives, the company also implemented environmental measures in its operations, such as water recycling and waste management.

These efforts reflect a broader commitment to sustainability.

Governance and CSR Oversight

CSR activities at Jayaswal Neco Industries are overseen by a dedicated CSR Committee. According to the annual report, the committee is responsible for planning, monitoring, and reviewing CSR initiatives.

The report states that all CSR spending during the year was carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements. Detailed disclosures have been provided to ensure transparency.

The company has also aligned its CSR activities with broader social and environmental goals.
