INDIA CSR NEWS ANALYSIS

Education at the Core: Building Foundations for the Future

Education continued to be Info Edge’s central CSR pillar, aligning closely with SDG 4: Quality Education. The company supported initiatives designed to improve learning outcomes among underprivileged children and youth.

Strengthening Early and Foundational Learning

Through its partnerships with organizations such as the Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) and Saarthi Education, Info Edge invested in foundational literacy and numeracy programs targeting first-generation learners.

  • Rs 47.50 lakhs was contributed to LLF, supporting play-based early learning in government primary schools.
  • Rs 30.85 lakhs was provided to Saarthi Education Foundation, benefitting 3,085 students across 12 affordable private schools.

Both programs emphasize not just academic learning but holistic child development, improving teacher capacity and ensuring measurable learning outcomes in resource-poor settings.

Expanding Access to Digital and Higher Education

Recognizing that digital fluency is the gateway to modern education, Info Edge contributed Rs 70 lakhs to Khan Academy India, supporting free, technology-based learning in regional languages.

Additionally, the company supported The International Foundation for Research & Education with Rs 1.90 crores, reinforcing higher education and research initiatives that bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Through these combined efforts, Info Edge is shaping an educational ecosystem that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and competence — essential for India’s next generation workforce.

Livelihoods and Inclusion: Enabling Economic Empowerment

Beyond education, Info Edge’s CSR portfolio demonstrates a strong emphasis on livelihood creation and social inclusion. In line with SDG 8 (Decent Work) and SDG 10 (Reducing Inequalities), the company partnered with NGOs to promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment for marginalized sections of society.

Training India’s Youth for Employment

Partnering with Magic Bus India Foundation, Info Edge supported youth skill training programs aimed at enhancing employability in the service sector. These interventions connect young people from urban low-income communities to job opportunities, especially in the retail, logistics, and hospitality sectors.

Promoting Inclusion and Accessibility

The company also funded targeted inclusion programs focusing on persons with disabilities and vulnerable communities:

  • The Umoya Foundation: Rs 12 lakhs was spent on the Second Innings program — empowering retired and differently-abled sportspersons to find meaningful livelihoods.
  • TRRAIN (Trust for Retailers & Retail Associates of India): Rs 74 lakhs supported Project Pankh, which provides vocational training and employment for persons with disabilities.
  • Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST): Rs 38 lakhs funded entrepreneurship programs, with 18% of beneficiaries from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

These initiatives ensure equitable participation in India’s economic growth story — especially for individuals often excluded from mainstream opportunities.

Environmental and Regional Impact

While education and inclusion form the backbone of Info Edge’s CSR policy, the company also directs its resources toward regional development and environmental resilience.

In FY25, the company invested Rs 21.60 lakhs in development programs within Mewat (Haryana) — one of India’s identified aspirational districts. This targeted intervention ensures that rural and semi-urban regions benefit from corporate-led development, aligning with India’s inclusive growth vision.

Governance and Transparency: CSR Oversight

Info Edge’s CSR activities are governed by a dedicated CSR Committee, chaired by Ms. Geeta Mathur (Independent Director), alongside three executive members.

The committee met four times during FY25 to review project selection, fund allocation, and outcome assessments. A total of Rs 4.9 lakhs was spent on third-party impact assessment, reinforcing Info Edge’s culture of transparency and accountability.

In line with the Companies Act, the company’s unspent amount of Rs 1.36 crores was deposited into a scheduled bank account on April 24, 2025, designated for ongoing CSR projects. As per the latest disclosure, Rs 71.50 lakhs has already been utilized toward these approved projects in FY26, ensuring all funds reach their intended purpose.

Creating a Measurable Social Impact

Info Edge’s CSR programs collectively reached over 10 lakh beneficiaries in FY25, with measurable outcomes across educational access, skill-building, and livelihood creation.

The company’s focus on data-driven social investments ensures that every rupee spent contributes toward long-term, scalable impact — not just philanthropy.

With clear monitoring mechanisms and partnerships with credible non-profits, Info Edge continues to exemplify the principles of ethical governance and inclusive development.
