NEW DELHI (India CSR): IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo, India’s leading airline, is driving impactful community development and environmental sustainability with a Rs. 1.98 crore (Rs. 19.8 million) investment in FY 2024. Focusing on children and education, women empowerment, environment, and heritage, the airline has set an ambitious goal of planting one million (10 Lakh) saplings by the end of this decade. Despite financial challenges from previous years, IndiGoReach reached 79,857 participants nationwide through its CSR initiatives.

Commitment to Sustainable Development

IndiGoReach is dedicated to fostering sustainable development across Indian communities, guided by four core pillars: children and education, women empowerment, environment, and heritage preservation. A flagship initiative is its reforestation drive, targeting one million saplings by 2030 to combat climate change. This effort includes tree plantation in rural areas, executed in partnership with vetted organizations selected through a rigorous due diligence process. IndiGo’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to environmental sustainability and community upliftment.

CSR Spending and Reach in FY 2024

In FY 2024, IndiGoReach allocated Rs.1.98 crore to CSR activities, with Rs. 1.92 crore directed toward projects and Rs. 0.05 crore spent on administrative overheads. This investment touched the lives of over 79,857 participants across India, showcasing the program’s expansive reach. Despite no mandatory CSR obligation—owing to a nil average net profit under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013—IndiGo voluntarily funded these initiatives. This resilience, even amidst carried-forward losses, underscores the airline’s unwavering dedication to social responsibility.

Governance and Transparency

The CSR Committee, aligned with Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, ensures effective oversight of IndiGoReach’s efforts. Chaired by Meleveetil Damodaran (Non-Executive Director), alongside Pallavi Shardul Shroff (Independent Director) and Anil Parashar (Non-Executive Director), the committee convened three times in FY 2024, with full attendance.

The Company Secretary supports as the committee’s secretary, reinforcing governance. This structured framework highlights IndiGo’s focus on transparency and accountability in its CSR operations.

A Broader Vision for Impact

IndiGoReach’s initiatives extend beyond environmental goals, empowering women, enhancing education for children, and preserving India’s heritage. Collaborations with credible partners ensure lasting community benefits. The Rs. 1.98 crore spent in FY 2024—exceeding statutory requirements—positions IndiGo to carry forward this excess for future projects. With a turnover of Rs. 68,904.34 crore and a net worth of Rs.1,931.93 crore, IndiGo balances its growth as India’s top airline with a strong commitment to social good.
