Through peer-to-peer learning, the program is expected to reach thousands of individuals every year
GURUGRAM (India CSR): Honda India Foundation (HIF), the CSR arm of all Honda group companies in India, has launched the Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program and flagged off the ‘Sadak Suraksha Express’ — two major initiatives aimed at building safer roads and promoting responsible mobility across India. These CSR initiatives align with Honda’s global vision of achieving Zero Traffic Fatalities by 2050, with an interim target of reducing road deaths by 50% by 2030.
The twin programs were launched at Honda Samajik Vikas Kendra, Naurangpur, in the presence of Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation; Katsuyuki Ozawa, Trustee, HIF; Rajeev Taneja, Operating Officer, HIF; and Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer, Corporate Affairs, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
Training Youth as Road Safety Ambassadors
The Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program is designed to empower youth as catalysts for behavioural change in road safety. Each batch will undergo a 90-day training program, including 15 days of classroom learning and 75 days of fieldwork in community awareness. The ambassadors will conduct workshops, interactive sessions, and local campaigns to educate people about traffic rules, helmet usage, pedestrian awareness, and responsible driving habits.
Through peer-to-peer learning, the program is expected to reach thousands of individuals every year, fostering long-term community engagement and creating a new generation of responsible road users.
‘Sadak Suraksha Express’ — Mobile Awareness on the Move
HIF also rolled out the ‘Sadak Suraksha Express’, a specially designed mobile van to take road safety education to rural and semi-urban communities. The initiative aims to reach over 100 villages in its first phase, engaging farmers, school students, women, and local leaders through visual demonstrations, street plays, and storytelling sessions.
The mobile unit features regional language content, enabling a deeper connection with local communities and fostering behavioural change at the grassroots level.
Commitment to Safer Roads
Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, said, “Creating awareness at the community level is central to building safer roads. The Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program and Sadak Suraksha Express are designed to engage youth and local communities by providing them with tools and knowledge to promote responsible mobility. Informed, aware citizens can play a vital role in reducing accidents and fostering a culture of safety on our roads.”
Through these CSR initiatives, Honda India Foundation continues to integrate education, awareness, and social responsibility into its long-term sustainability agenda, contributing to India’s Vision Zero Road Fatalities mission.
