UDAIPUR: As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, in zinc-lead-silver business, will launch drive to plant about 1 lac saplings in the premises of their business locations. Rampura Agucha, the world’s largest zinc producing mine, alone would be leading the drive with plantation of 70,000 saplings in the premises. Protection and preserving the environment has always been priority of the company.
Such plantation drives have also been organized earlier. During this drive the company would plant Neem and Seesam saplings, which are from 2-8 feet in height. To maintain these samplings, Hindustan Zinc has also identified 6 external, who would be maintaining these saplings for at least 2 years. Hindustan Zinc has integrated best global environment friendly technology in its mining and smelting operations.
“Optimum utilization of resources, managing the waste, conserving water & electricity has always been the key focus areas for the company. All the units of HZL operate on ‘Zero Discharge’ and the now aiming for achieving ‘Zero Wastage’. Hindustan Zinc has been quite successful in significantly reducing the consumption of water and electricity in its operations.” company said in the statement.
