Noida – Global bicycle giant, Hero Cycles has collaborated with leading women’s organization Inner Wheel India to avail bicycles to the women from economically weaker section.
The initiative opens up educational or economic opportunities and empowers women socially.
The company has distributed 264 Hero Empress cycles to women and young girls from the marginalized backgrounds.
“We have seen how making cycles available to girls helped Bihar to reduce its female dropout rates in schools.” Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman & Managing Director, Hero Motors Company said.
“Owning a bicycle helps significantly in women empowerment” he further added.
Inner Wheel India broadly focuses on rural outreach programmes to ensure better standard of living for women in backward areas in the periphery of national capital and regions.
“We aim at bringing a positive difference in the lives of women from poor socio economic backgrounds” Mamta Gupta, National Representative of Inner wheel India said.
“Bicycle can be an easy mode of transport and provides safety from harassment on the roads” she further added.
