Overall CSR Spending in FY2025

Grasim Industries’ CSR spending in FY2024–25 reached Rs 88.42 crore, according to the company’s annual report.

Out of this amount, Rs 67.80 crore was spent to meet the company’s statutory CSR obligation under the Companies Act, 2013. In addition to this mandatory spending, the company voluntarily contributed an additional Rs 20.62 crore toward various community development projects.

The report highlights that the CSR funds were allocated through a structured annual action plan approved by the company’s CSR Committee of the Board. The plan identifies priority areas, project timelines, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective implementation.

Grasim’s CSR initiatives are primarily concentrated in communities located around its manufacturing units and project sites.

Healthcare Programs Reach Nearly Eight Lakh People

Healthcare remained one of the largest focus areas for Grasim’s CSR initiatives during the year.

According to the annual report, around 7.99 lakh people benefited from healthcare programs in 2025. These initiatives included mobile medical services, rural health camps, disease awareness programs, and support for differently abled individuals.

One of the key healthcare initiatives involved Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) that provided medical services to villages where healthcare access is limited. The report notes that 1,237 health visits were conducted through these mobile units, offering consultations, basic medicines, and health check-ups.

In addition, the company organized 887 rural medical camps, where people received treatment for common diseases such as malaria, diabetes, hypertension, and other illnesses.

The report also highlights the company’s support for the national tuberculosis elimination mission under Project Ni-Kshay. Through this initiative, the company provided nutritional support and awareness programs to more than 1,050 tuberculosis patients, helping them complete their treatment.

Another initiative included artificial limb fitment camps, which supported 452 differently abled individuals by providing prosthetic limbs and rehabilitation assistance.

Education Programs Support Over One Lakh Students

Education continues to be another key pillar of Grasim Industries’ CSR strategy.

According to the company’s annual report, 1.22 lakh students benefited from education initiatives during the year. These programs focused on improving school infrastructure, strengthening teaching methods, and supporting students from economically weaker backgrounds.

One of the important initiatives highlighted in the report is Project Shishya, which introduced smart classrooms and digital learning tools in government schools. The project has been implemented in more than 450 schools, helping students gain better access to technology-enabled learning.

Another initiative is Project Gyanarjan, which provides coaching support for students preparing for competitive exams such as JEE and NEET. The report states that 130 students received specialized coaching during the year, helping them pursue higher education in technical and medical fields.

Early childhood education was also supported through the development of 125 Anganwadi centres. These centres provide improved learning environments and nutrition monitoring for young children.

According to the report, more than 5,500 children benefited from these Anganwadi support programs.

Livelihood and Skill Development Initiatives

Grasim Industries also focused on improving income opportunities and skill development for rural communities.

According to the annual report, 95,797 people benefited from livelihood and skill development programs during the year. These initiatives are designed to help communities become economically self-reliant.

A major component of this effort involves supporting Self-Help Groups (SHGs) formed by women in rural areas. The company currently supports 450 SHGs involving 5,425 women members.

These groups promote savings, micro-enterprises, and financial literacy. The report highlights that the SHGs collectively built savings of Rs 11.82 crore, reflecting growing financial independence among women.

Another important program is Project Kaushalya, which focuses on vocational skill training. Under this program, 2,380 youth received training in trades such as electrical work, beauty services, retail operations, and other practical skills.

According to the annual report, around 70 percent of trained participants were able to secure jobs or start small businesses after completing their training.

Grasim also supports traditional artisans through initiatives such as Aadyam, which helps preserve Indian textile crafts while connecting artisans with modern markets.

Infrastructure and Water Development Projects

Infrastructure and water conservation projects formed another important part of the company’s CSR activities.

According to the annual report, these initiatives benefited around 1.22 lakh people during the year.

One of the key focus areas was access to safe drinking water. The company installed 23 reverse osmosis (RO) water purification plants and developed piped drinking water systems in several villages.

These projects provided clean drinking water to 52 villages, benefiting around 3.77 lakh people, according to the report.

Water conservation initiatives were also implemented to support agriculture and rural livelihoods. The company restored 297 water structures, including ponds, check dams, and rainwater harvesting systems.

These projects helped conserve around 339.8 crore litres of water, which improved irrigation availability for farmers.

According to the report, over 72,000 farmers benefited from improved water availability, leading to increased agricultural productivity and income stability.

Governance and Monitoring of CSR Programs

Grasim Industries follows a structured governance framework to ensure transparency and accountability in CSR spending.

The annual report states that the company’s CSR Committee of the Board regularly reviews project implementation and monitors the impact of social programs.

CSR initiatives are designed after conducting community needs assessments, which help identify the most pressing challenges faced by local communities.

Independent evaluations are also conducted to assess the effectiveness of projects and measure their social impact.

According to the report, the company’s CSR strategy aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to healthcare, education, clean water, and sustainable livelihoods.

Recognition for CSR Initiatives

Grasim Industries’ CSR programs have received recognition from several national organizations.

According to the annual report, the company received the National Gold Award 2024 from CSR Times for its education initiatives.

It also received recognition from the World CSR Congress and the ET Conscious Corporate Awards, acknowledging the company’s efforts in sustainable development and community engagement.

These awards highlight the impact of the company’s social initiatives in improving living conditions in rural areas.

Continuing Focus on Inclusive Growth

Grasim Industries’ CSR spending of Rs 88.42 crore in FY2024–25 reflects the company’s broader commitment to inclusive growth.

Through initiatives in healthcare, education, livelihood development, and infrastructure, the company aims to improve living standards in communities connected to its operations.

According to the company’s annual report, these programs are designed to ensure that economic growth is accompanied by social progress.

With millions of beneficiaries reached through its initiatives, the company continues to integrate social responsibility into its long-term development strategy.
