Dhenkanal (Odisha): GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), which is setting up a 1,400 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal, has bagged “Corporate Social Responsibility Award ” during the ‘Odisha State Safety Conclave – 2013’, organised by the Institute of Quality & Environmental Management Services and Rotary Club, Bhubaneswar Heritage, with support of Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, Department of Labour & Employees State Insurance, Government of Odisha and Odisha State Disaster Mitigation Authority, Government of Odisha for 2012.
This Safety Conclave was organized on September 13 & 14, 2013. The theme of the Conclave was “Safety First Safety Always.”
Mr. R.V. Sheshan, President & Director, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited received the award from Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India in presence of Dr. Taradatta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary & Managing Director, Odisha State Disaster Mitigation Authority (OSDMA) , and Er. P.C. Das, Director of Factories & Boilers, Odisha.
Major industries from Odisha including Tata Steel, JSL Stainless Ltd., Jindal Steel & Power Limited, IFFCO, Adhunik Group, IOCL, Nalco, Hindalco, Vedanta, Navabharat, IMFA, PPL, etc. were participated in the Conclave.
Awards also distributed to the industries for their best practices and track records in safety and health management in different sectors like steel, power, aluminum, fertiliser and mining.
Mr Susanta Sahoo, Associate General Manager– Environment, Health and Safety, presented a paper on “Cost of Accident & Basic Principles of Accident Prevention”, which was appreciated by one and all and received the memento from the organizers. In 2011, GKEL won safety award for best safety practices in construction activities.
