ODISHA: In order to stimulate students and their parents as well to excel in the High School Board Examination, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), which operates 1050 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, has awarded meritorious students who secured good percentage in the examination.
GKEL has bequeathed cash award to four boys and one girl from Kamalanga High school and Panchayat High School, Mangalpur, who have secured more than 70% marks in this year’s High School Board examination.
In a formal function Santosh Sahu, General Manager,Sushant Sahu, Associate Genral Manager, Environment Health & Safety (EHS), Ms Supriya Swain, Human Resource and Dillip Kumar Kar, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), GKEL handed over the cash award to the meritorious students.
Distributing the award to students, Santosh Sahu, GM, GKEL, said “This is a token of recognition to these meritorious students, but this will definitely motivate other students to perform better in coming year examination”
During the occasion, a consultation meeting with teachers, students and community members organized to discuss on how quality of education can improve in all high schools of Mangalpur Panchayat and in the same time parents were urged to guide their offspring to secure good percentage in next High School Board Examination. “Teachers may guide students at school but you (parents) have paramount responsibility for your children”Mr. Sahu suggested.
