DHENKANAL (Odisha): A mega voluntary blood donation camp was jointly organised by GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), GMR Infrastructure Limited (GIL) and RAXA Security Services on September 3, 2013 at the GKEL First Aid Centre at Kamalanga.
A team of doctors and paramedical staff from Angul Red Cross Society Blood Bank conducted the camp. Employees of GMR and members of the neighbourhood community came forward to donate blood. In all, 192 units of blood were collected from this one-day camp.
Mr. R.V. Sheshan, President & Director, GKEL inaugurated the camp. After donating blood, Mr. Shehan said, “It gives us immense contentment to be able to contribute towards our community by way of donating blood for needy patients.
I would like to thank all the GMR employees, members of the neighboring community and volunteers of Angul Red Cross Society Blood Bank who have joined us today in this noble cause.”
Among others, GMRVF Program Leader Mr. Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, GKEL General Manager (Security) Mr. Sanatan Senapati and Associate General Manager (HR) Mr. Sudhir Kumar Das, GIL Project Manager Mr. Damodar Tanguturi and Deputy General Manager (RAXA) Mr. K. Gopalakrishnan were present on this occasion.
The purpose of organizing this blood donation camp was to raise awareness about the need to donate safe blood voluntarily to save precious lives.
