DHEKANAL (Odisha): GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) celebrated National Road Safety Week from 11-17 January 2014 to create and sustain safety awareness among its employees.
The week-long programme, designed to focus on road and traffic safety, rode triumphantly on the theme, “when on road, always say pehele aap.” Banners in different languages carrying safety messages were displayed at prominent locations in the plant area while badges, leaflets and pamphlets were distributed to all as part of the awareness campaign.
During the week, the “Surkshya Ratha” travelled all day to every nook and corner of the plant and in the colony with disseminating different safety messages. Audio visual training sessions were conducted for drivers and operators with prizes for best performance for others in quiz programs and competitions. An eye check-up camp was organized for the drivers and operators. A special program was conducted among school children at GMR Varalakshmi DAV School, Manpur School and Kamalanga School and prizes were distributed to the quiz winners.
The program was planned and supervised by Mr. Susanta Kumar Sahoo, Associate General Manager – Environment Health & Safety, GKEL; Mr. Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, Programme Leader – GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, the CSR arm of GMR Group, and supported by Mr. Dipankar Ray, Mr. Chittaranjan Mahali, Mr. Pritiranjan Behera and Mr. Dillip Sethy of GKEL.
