BHUBANESWAR: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) emerged as winner in the “Best Corporate House” category by Odisha Red Cross Blood Bank and Dhenkanal District Administration for organising maximum blood donation camps at its plant premises.
GKEL which operates 1050 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district, was awarded during the 69th Republic Day celebration at the district. Dillip Kumar Kar, Head (CSR) and Susanta Sahoo, Head (EHS), GKEL received the award from SC & ST Development Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi. GKEL bagged this award for the third time, in a row.
Congratulating the employees on this feat, Ramesh R Pai, Chief Operating Officer, GKEL said, ”Winning this award has further increased our responsibility for the people of Dhenkanal and around project site villages.”
GKEL is the only corporate house in Dhenkanal district, which donated 341 units of blood to Odisha Red Cross Blood Bank last year. As part of part CSR initiative, GKEL has set up standard hospital in an extremely backward area to provide better health services for local community. GKEL alsodistributed health insurance policies to all land loser families. By doing so, GKEL became the first corporate house in Odisha to offer health insurance policies to land losers and ensure their health security.
