BHUBANEWSWAR: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), emerged as winner of best corporate by Odisha Red Cross Blood Bank & Dhenkanal District Administration for organising maximum voluntary blood donation camps at its plant premises. GKEL which operates 1050 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district, awarded during the 68th Republic Day Celebration at Dhenkanal.
Dilip Kumar Kar, Program Leader, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, the CSR arm of GMR Group, received the award from Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister of Tourism & Culture, Odisha. GKEL has been getting this award in Dhenkanal District for the last two consecutive years.
Congratulating to all employees, Ramesh R Pai, Chief Operating Officer, GKEL, said, “Winning this award has further increased our responsibility for the people of Dhenkanal and around project site villages. I personally thank to all GMR employees & workers for donating blood and making all blood donation camps successful. As a socially responsible corporate house, we will continue such initiatives with the help of our employees and local community in the coming days.”
As part of CSR initiative, GKEL has established a well-equipped hospital in a backward area to provide better health services for local community. GKEL also distributed health insurance policies to all land loser families. By doing so, GKEL became the first corporate house in Odisha to offer health insurance policies to all land loser family and ensure their health security. Besides, specialized health camps are organized regularly in the hospital. GKEL also operates a Mobile Medical Unit which caters to the medical needs of the villages surrounding the plant.
