As per data by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, each day India loses 134 hectares of forest to industrialization, encroachment and mining. This deforestation has detrimental effect on our environment and needs awareness amongst people so that they can contribute towards building a greener and safer environment.

Commenting on the initiative Mr. Vinay Maheshwari, Senior Vice President, Sales and Market Development and Brand Marketing, Dainik Bhaskar Group said, “If every individual takes a pledge to plant at least one tree in his/her  lifetime, it will make a huge difference to the society. Today, we are losing our green cover rapidly and next 30 years are crucial for us. Hence it is important for us to understand the significance of planting trees and work towards creating a greener environment.”

Smt. Menaka Gandhi, Indian Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development said “Each person rich or poor, uses 7 trees a year, from the day they are born. If you are 30 years old you have already had 210 trees cut for you. You need to plant all the trees you have used back into the earth.”

Shri. Shivraj Singh Chauhan Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh said “In all the religious books it is described, that trees are of utmost importance in our lives and are one of the necessary factors for our survival. It is our responsibility to take care of these trees.”
