New Delhi: ECIL under its CSR activities of FY 2022-23 had procured and Handed Over Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines (33 No.’s) and Incinerators (75 No.’s) with a provision to supply Sanitary Napkins for 1 year in 21 Government Girls Residential Schools at Jayshankar Bhupalpally District, Telangana at a cost of Rs. 43.57 Lakhs in the presence of District Additional Collector on 11.11.2022 at Inaugural ceremony held at KGBV Bhupalpally School.
Shri Diwakar, IAS, District Additional Collector has appreciated and thanked ECIL for their efforts in providing Sanitary Machines and Napkins. He expressed that the Menstrual cycle is a regular phenomenon in a women’s life and most common issues faced by adolescent girls and might have an adverse affect on their performance in academic and other activities of daily life. This may lead to school absenteeism during menstrual days because of lack of Sanitary Napkin Pads/ facilities in school.
This initiative will help in inculcating the habit of using the Sanitary Napkin and Hygiene Etiquette among the Girl Children while studying.
Chief Planning Officer, District Education Principals/ Caretakers of all the 21 Government Residential Schools were also present during this program.
Shri C Munikrishna, AGM(P&A) has handed over the Sanitary Napkin Vending & Incinerator machines to school authorities of 21 schools and DEO. He has informed the gathering that around 4000 girl students were benefitted with this initiative which was taken-up with at most care keeping in mind the health & hygiene of Girl Children and Environmental friendly.
Usage of sanitary napkin is safe and disposing them is also equally important which may create problems like flushing results in clogging of drains and throwing in dustbins resulting in health related problems due to hazardous content in the used sanitary pad. In order to tackle these issues and provide comprehensive solution, ECIL has collaborated with HLL Lifecare Limited for supplying Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines, Incinerators and Sanitary Napkins for 1 year. He urged HLL Lifecare to extend their immediate support for any maintenance issues by appointing Nodal Person for resolution of complaints.
ECIL Representatives, Shri Sunil Kumar (Personnel Officer), Shri Ajay S N (Working President, ECIL Staff and Worker’s Union) and Shri L Mohan Singh (Organizing Secretary, ECIL Officer’s Association) have participated and made this event successful.
