Shaping a Sustainable Tomorrow: A Deep Dive into Divi’s Laboratories’ Transformative CSR Initiatives in 2025

NEW DELHI (India CSR): In an era where corporate responsibility is increasingly paramount, Divi’s Laboratories Limited, a global leader in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing, has unveiled its robust commitment to creating meaningful impact beyond business. The company’s 35th Annual Report for 2024–25 highlights a significant investment of Rs 49.19 crore towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, touching the lives of over 13 lakh individuals and fostering a greener, more equitable future. This substantial expenditure underscores Divi’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive growth, demonstrating how a purpose-driven approach can translate into tangible societal benefits.

Divi’s, headquartered in Hyderabad, India, operates with a clear vision: to create value for all stakeholders through scientific excellence, innovation, and a deep commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. The company is committed to building a greener planet, promoting ecological balance, strengthening communities, and empowering its employees, ensuring that its growth is both sustainable and inclusive. This ethos is reflected in their core values, which include continuous process innovation, sustainable business operations, and collaborative efforts.

A Holistic Approach to Community Development

Divi’s CSR philosophy is deeply ingrained in its operations, focusing on the communities where its manufacturing units are located, primarily in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The 2024–25 fiscal year saw a wide array of programs designed to uplift vulnerable and marginalized populations, addressing critical needs in education, healthcare, water security, and rural development. The company’s CSR teams actively engage with local authorities and communities in areas like Choutuppal and Bheemili Mandals to identify needs and implement effective solutions. Divi’s also operates with the objective of reaching out to vulnerable and marginalized stakeholder groups, including persons with disabilities, the elderly, women, and children from less privileged socio-economic sections.

Ensuring Water Security and Health

Access to clean and safe drinking water is a top priority for Divi’s, aiming to reduce waterborne illnesses and improve public health and well-being. Through its “Project Jalaprasadam,” Divi’s installed 112 RO (Reverse Osmosis) plants in various villages and major temple premises across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ensuring thousands of devotees have access to fresh, purified water. These efforts provided 2,76,793 litres of clean water daily, significantly reducing plastic bottle usage and preventing approximately 5,200 metric tonnes (MT) of plastic waste and 22,500 MT of CO2 emissions annually. Overall, a remarkable 8,20,585 people benefited from Divi’s safe drinking water initiatives.

In public health, Divi’s addresses healthcare gaps by building critical infrastructure and improving access to quality medical services. This includes supporting health education, facilitating mobile clinics, and providing essential medical equipment. In FY 2024–25, 1,08,953 beneficiaries across 66 villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana received support through these healthcare programs, promoting early intervention and improved health outcomes.

Fostering Rural Development and Hygiene

Divi’s believes that sustainable progress starts at the grassroots level. Its village development initiatives focus on transforming rural communities by improving the quality of life, enabling access to basic infrastructure, and supporting long-term socio-economic well-being. During the reporting period, 1,02,480 beneficiaries across 75 villages benefited from rural development efforts, which included laying cement concrete (CC) and blacktop (BT) roads.

In line with the national Swachh Bharat mission, Divi’s also champions cleanliness and sanitation. Through cleanliness drives, maintaining sanitation infrastructure, and raising awareness on hygiene, 1,33,803 beneficiaries across 72 villages were positively impacted in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. These efforts foster a culture of cleanliness and civic responsibility while directly addressing sanitation gaps in underserved areas.

Environmental Stewardship and Employee Empowerment

Beyond social programs, Divi’s is deeply committed to environmental sustainability, embedding green chemistry, process excellence, and resource efficiency across its value chain. Environmental responsibility is integral to its operations, with a focus on minimising its carbon footprint through efficient water and energy conservation, waste management, and sustainable manufacturing practices. In FY 2024–25, the company conserved approximately 34,870 GJ of energy and 92,130 KL of water, while reducing 6,350 TCO2e of GHG emissions and 35 MT of plastic waste. These efforts are part of its ambitious Sustainability Goals 2030, which include reducing absolute-based GHG emissions by 5% and intensity-based GHG emissions by 25%, as well as reducing water consumption and waste disposal by 25%.

Divi’s also prioritises its employees’ well-being, fostering a purpose-driven culture that motivates teams through a strong sense of connection and pride in contributing to human health, the environment, and society. The company provides competitive compensation and industry-leading retention strategies, achieving approximately 38 million safe man-hours and an impressive 90% employee retention rate. It also offers livelihood training programs like tailoring, beautician courses, hospitality, and basic computer skills at Divi’s Skill Development Centre to empower youth for future employment.
