NEW DELHI: Nissan Motor India has appointed Deepa Thomas as vice president, Communications and CSR, informed the company in an official statement released last month.
Thomas will have responsibility for all of Nissan’s communications in India including product and corporate matters, and CSR activities, as the company continues to strengthen its business operations toward further growth in India.
She will report to Guillaume Sicard, president, Nissan India Operations, and will initially be located in Mumbai. Thomas will move with the company to its new head offices in Delhi once operations begin there later this year.
Thomas succeeds Dr Lavanya Wadgaonkar, who will move to a new position within Nissan; this will be the subject of a separate announcement at a later date.
“We are delighted to have Deepa on board at Nissan. She brings a proven track record of success and her deep experience in India and abroad will help us continue to spread the word about our innovative and exciting cars, and move our business forward. India is an important engine of growth in the region and for Nissan globally, and Deepa’s leadership will help us tell the Nissan and Datsun story to more and more customers,” said Guillaume Sicard, president, Nissan India Operations.
Thomas has over 19 years of communications experience and knowledge gained in external and employee communications. Before joining Nissan, she led the communications function for several Mahindra Group companies as general manager, Group Communications.
Prior to that, she spent 10 years with eBay India in a series of communications roles with increasing level of responsibility.
