On the eve of Children’s day DAV Vedanta International Public School at Lanjigarhcelebrated Children Fest 2014 with a promise to spread awareness about spreading the value of conservation of water and progress of mankind through research and development.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest Kalahandi MP ArkaKesharideo praised the school for spreading quality English medium education in such a remote and tribal dominated place of the district.
He urged the students to enjoy studies and spread the value of education by making Kalahandi and Odisha proud of them. MrDeo also saw innovative scientific exhibits showcased by students of DAV Vedanta International public school and advised the students to carry on with the good work. He expressed that its research and development and innovative scientific thinking which can take us to a new era. Students of the school showcased innovative scientific projects during an exhibition ‘Quest 2014’ held on the school premises marking the day.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police, KalahandiBrajesh Roy said the school in a remote location like Lanjigarh is a commendable effort. “Education is the backbone of development. When quality education reaches to such remote areas, it has a far reaching impact. When we produce engineers and doctors from a remote place, the area gets the real value and development comes far too quickly that the normal course,” he added.
Present during the event Niranjan Gupta, CFO, SesaSterlite Limited (Aluminium& Power Business) congratulated the local people to come forward and make the school a success. He said, “The school which started with just 7 students now has more than 700 students including 200 tribal students is a great effort and it could become possible only for the support of the local people. He promised the school will continue to deliver the best to shape the future of education in the area.”
Among others JalajMalpani, Head – Finance, SSL, KoustavaRatan Kundu, Head – HR, Mamta Dave, Chairperson, Vedanta Ladies Club were also present to encourage students.
Mrs Shukla Chakraborty, Principal DAV Vendanta International School said, the school is committed to quality education and building a strong foundation for every child studying in the school. She also reiterated the school’s commitment towards teaching the value of conserving nature. Notably, the school has one of the few schools in the country recognized as a Green School and received PrakrutiMitra award.
DAV Vedanta International School was started under SSL’s CSR initiatives to strengthen quality education in Lanjigarh. SSL is also supporting education movement in the area by providing mid-day meal to over 15,000 students of 187 schools of Lanjigarh block from its Centralised kitchen at Lanjigarh.
Earlier, students of the school came out in a rally yesterday to spread awareness about conservation of water. They organized a street play to inform people about the disastrous results of water pollution and how water will become a rare commodity if it is not conserved from now on.
