Dabur’s efforts towards the sustainable development of rural communities in India through its CSR initiatives have been exemplary.

SHRINAGAR (India CSR): Dabur India Ltd, a leading Ayurveda-based company in India, has revamped a government middle school in Jammu as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The revamp was done in partnership with Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation and was handed over to the school authorities in a ceremony held in Jammu. The transformation includes establishing separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls, creating safe drinking water facilities, upgrading the school infrastructure, and equipping the school with experiential education materials. The revamped school also has a new playground and uninterrupted electricity supply.

The first of these schools – Government Middle School, Bari Shah Da Talab, Distt Samba – was revamped in partnership with Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation. The revamped school was handed over to the school authorities at a ceremony held in Jammu. The revamp would benefit the over 35 students studying in this school.

Dabur’s commitment to improving education and empowering individuals

Dabur’s Head-Manufacturing, Hrishikesh Ramani, stated that Dabur is committed to the sustainable well-being of people in the areas where they operate. He added that Dabur has always supported the cause of promoting quality education and empowering individuals. Ramani said that Dabur’s school support programme is an intrinsic part of their efforts to improve the overall learning environment in schools in Jammu, which they believe will go a long way in reducing school dropouts. By revamping schools and creating a conducive learning environment for children, Dabur has taken significant steps towards improving the quality of life of local communities.

Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation’s vision

Chirag Bhandari, the Founder of Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation, shared that Ennoble envisions making government schools lovable and the number one choice of the community by revamping school infrastructure and creating conducive learning ecosystems. He further stated that they are glad to have found a partner in Dabur who is focused on working at grassroots levels to improve the learning spaces under their CSR initiative.

Dabur’s plans for future development initiatives

Going forward, Dabur plans to roll out a host of development initiatives aimed at improving the livelihood of the rural populace, particularly women and children, in the region. The school’s transformation includes separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls, safe drinking water facilities, and upgrading the school infrastructure with BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) painting. Dabur’s CSR arm Jivanti Welfare & Charitable Trust, in collaboration with Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation, carried out the development work. The school was equipped with experiential education materials, including a Mini Science Lab and Teaching Learning Material for an engaging learning experience. The school premises are now friendly for specially-abled students, with the creation of ramps for Child with Special Needs (CwSN) toilet.

About Dabur’s CSR initiatives

Dabur has been involved with community development work since 1994, endeavoring to bring about an enduring change in the lives of people and to create the right environment for driving the local economy. Through its School Support Programme, Dabur has helped revamp nearly 100 government schools over the past five years and has made them better places for study.
