MUMBAI (India CSR): YES SECURITIES, a prominent financial services firm, has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at uplifting 800 small and marginal tribal farmers across eight villages in Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh. The initiative, carried out in partnership with YES FOUNDATION, focuses on promoting sustainable agriculture, doubling farmers’ incomes, and empowering women through self-help groups (SHGs).
High-Value Crop Cultivation to Double Farmers’ Incomes
The central goal of the project is to significantly improve the livelihoods of tribal farmers by doubling their baseline income. This is being achieved by introducing high-value crop cultivation, including climate-resilient crops such as creeper and non-creeper vegetables, cereals, and pulses. By enhancing farm productivity and sustainability, the project seeks to create long-term economic benefits for these farming communities.
In addition to crop cultivation, farmers are being trained in sustainable farming practices and provided with technical knowledge on the “Package of Practices” to ensure higher productivity. Capacity-building programs are a key component, with the focus on improving irrigation resources through well repair and promoting micro-irrigation techniques.
Solar Irrigation and Watershed Development
To support these efforts, YES SECURITIES has expanded its Solar Irrigation Unit Plus, a solar-powered irrigation system designed to provide sustainable water solutions to farmers. This initiative is complemented by watershed development activities, promoting micro-irrigation techniques to optimize water usage and enhance crop yields.
Women-Run Pulses Unit for Economic Independence
A notable feature of this CSR initiative is the establishment of a women-led pulses processing unit, operated by local women SHGs. This unit will not only foster financial independence for women but also empower them with leadership roles in the community, promoting active participation in high-value agriculture.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
Anshul Arzare, MD & CEO of YES SECURITIES, highlighted the broader impact of the project: “We are committed to driving meaningful change in rural communities by empowering women and promoting sustainable farming practices. Through initiatives like the Solar Irrigation Unit Plus and the women-led pulses unit, we aim to tackle income instability and climate resilience, ensuring long-term prosperity for farmers in Barwani.”
With this initiative, YES SECURITIES continues its commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable development, ensuring that rural communities in Madhya Pradesh thrive both economically and socially.
