Maharashtra’s Leader to Champion Rural and Remote Students’ Creativity in India’s Premier STEM Event

MUMBAI (India CSR): The 5th Edition of the National STEM Challenge is set to inspire India’s next generation of innovators, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis attending as Chief Guest. Scheduled for August 18, 2025, at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai, the event is co-organized by Brillio and STEM Learning Pvt. Ltd. It will bring together bright young finalists from 13 states, representing government and aided schools in rural, aspirational, and remote areas. Over two days, these students will present groundbreaking STEM models, turning classrooms into laboratories of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving — a true celebration of India’s future talent.

National Platform

This year’s competition will see finalists from 26 states, encompassing schools in rural, aspirational, and remote regions — from the snow-covered terrains of Ladakh to the culturally rich town of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Students will present meticulously designed STEM models and solutions, reflecting months of preparation, guidance, and teamwork.

Each model is rooted in addressing real-world community challenges, ranging from water conservation to clean energy solutions. By bringing these voices to a national stage, the event ensures that talent from the farthest corners of India receives visibility, encouragement, and the opportunity to connect with the country’s innovation ecosystem.

The Grand Finale will be graced by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who will attend as the Chief Guest. His presence underlines the importance of investing in STEM education as a foundation for building a skilled and technologically empowered nation.

The Chief Minister’s participation sends a strong message of policy-level support for initiatives that democratize access to quality education. It reflects a growing synergy between government vision, corporate responsibility, and grassroots innovation, ensuring that no talented student is left behind due to geographical or economic barriers. Such collaborations are crucial to fulfilling the aspirations of NEP 2020 and SDG goals.

Vision Statement

Speaking about the initiative, Ashutosh Pandit, Founder & CEO of STEM Learning Pvt. Ltd., emphasized its transformative impact: “The National STEM Challenge is not just a competition — it is a platform where the dreams, skills, and creativity of India’s young innovators are nurtured and celebrated. Together with Brillio, we are building a future-ready generation empowered by science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.” His statement highlights the mission to instill confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. By creating such opportunities, the challenge aligns corporate resources with educational needs, ensuring the next generation is equipped to lead in the knowledge economy.

Event Highlights

The two-day Grand Finale will offer a dynamic mix of live STEM model demonstrations, hands-on problem-solving challenges, and thematic discussions. Students will get the rare opportunity to interact directly with industry leaders, experienced educators, and policymakers, allowing for mentorship and exposure beyond the classroom.

Every participating model reflects a strong commitment to practical learning, often inspired by challenges faced in students’ local communities. By showcasing solutions to real-life problems, the event inspires peer learning and knowledge exchange. Importantly, it also celebrates the role of CSR in making such enriching learning experiences accessible to children in underserved and remote regions.

CSR Impact

The National STEM Challenge has grown into a national movement that seamlessly integrates corporate social responsibility with grassroots educational reform. Brillio’s long-term partnership exemplifies how committed CSR programs can bridge deep-rooted gaps in access to STEM learning tools, labs, and mentorship.

For schools in rural and economically weaker sections, such initiatives provide more than just resources — they offer hope, confidence, and a pathway to opportunity. By focusing on building problem-solving capacity and innovation skills among underprivileged students, the challenge contributes not only to educational advancement but also to India’s broader social and economic development goals under NEP 2020 and SDGs.
