As a socially responsible corporate, Bharat Forge strives to work towards the betterment of communities with targeted CSR interventions. Its efforts are aimed at improving the livelihoods of the economically backward sections by building trust, being transparent, and adopting best practices in everyday actions.
Bharat Forge Limited has taken a multifaceted approach to improving healthcare in rural areas through various initiatives. The company operates telemedicine centers in partnership with Door Step Health Services, providing vital online consultations. Additionally, they have fortified Primary Health Care Centers by improving infrastructure and supplying medical essentials, benefiting several villages across multiple districts.
In collaboration with Samvedana, the leading forging company head quartered in Pune, conducts cancer screening camps focused on early detection. The company also has a targeted COVID-19 response to assist during the pandemic. Moreover, they’ve improved water quality by installing water filters in various villages, promoting overall public health.
Reaching the Unreachable: Telemedicine Centers
Bharat Forge is pioneering digital healthcare in rural areas through its operation of 8 telemedicine centers. These centers provide essential online medical consultations to villagers in remote locations.
The initiative covers villages like Thakarwadi, Chikhali, and Ugalewadi in the Ambegaon Taluka of Pune district, as well as Dhamner, Kanherkhed, Nagzari, Rui, and Jaipur in the Koregaon Taluka of Satara district.
This technological approach addresses healthcare gaps by offering timely medical advice from qualified professionals without the need for physical travel. Particularly impactful during the COVID-19 pandemic, these telemedicine centers exemplify Bharat Forge’s commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable healthcare solutions in rural communities.
Revitalizing Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs)
Bharat Forge has made a commendable commitment to enhancing rural healthcare by extending significant support to 20 Primary Health Care centers (PHCs) across multiple districts.
This initiative has positively impacted 59 villages, including Ambegaon and Purandar in Pune, Mhada in Solapur, and Koregaon, Maan, and Khatav in Satara.
The company’s contributions range from upgrading infrastructure to supplying essential medical equipment and medicines. This focused support has critically strengthened the operational capabilities of these PHCs, especially during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
By reinforcing the foundation of rural healthcare, Bharat Forge has created an immediate and robust impact while also laying the groundwork for sustainable, long-term health solutions in these communities.
Early Intervention: Cancer Screening Camps
In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, Bharat Forge conducted cancer screening camps and reached more than 900 women in rural Maharashtra. Since the inception of this initiative specifically in the Satara and Pune districts we have reached 4,744 women.
These camps focused on early detection of breast and cervical cancer, significantly aiding many women by identifying cases in their primary stages.
The initiative broke through social stigmas and awareness barriers that often hamper rural healthcare. While the financial investment was significant, the human impact was immeasurable, setting a sustainable model for corporate social responsibility (CSR) in healthcare.
The success of this year’s program serves as a stepping stone for future, more expansive healthcare initiatives.
Clean Drinking Water: A Foundation for Health
In a crucial move to improve public health, water purifiers have been installed in 10 villages in the Purandar block of Pune district. Covering villages like Kalewadi, Udachiwadi, Askarwadi, Bhivari, Chambli, Sonori, Bopgaon, Ponde, Pandeshwar, and Kumbharwalan, this initiative aims to provide residents with clean drinking water, thereby reducing waterborne diseases.
The installation not only serves immediate health needs but also represents a significant step in building sustainable communities. By ensuring access to clean water, the project is a milestone in enhancing the quality of life for the villagers, while also setting a model for rural health and sanitation improvements.
Community-Centric Approach
Bharat Forge has carved out a well-rounded strategy for community development, adhering to key indicators like water harvesting, livelihood, health, and education. “Our objective is to constantly reshape our CSR initiatives to align better with the Government’s vision for social development,” said the company, emphasizing the robust governance provided by their CSR Committee Leaders.
