Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc Limited organised the Science-O-Mania event for students of class 12th – Science Section from five government schools in the Agucha, Chanderia, Dariba, Debari, and Jawar regions. Various scientific models were created by 12 groups of 76 students in this effort. The students were mentored and guided by 18 Hindustan Zinc engineers and the Shiksha Sambal program’s field team. The event took place under the joint aegis of the business’s Shiksha Sambhal Program and Vidya Bhawan Society. To encourage and foster quality education, the Shiksha Sambal initiative is being implemented in 64 government schools.
The Science-O-Mania event was implemented in three phases. Models were finalised in the initial round in coordination with the students. The second phase consisted of student groups demonstrating their models while building them. Public representatives, principals, subject professors, and education department’s officials identified the seven best models from among them. Models such as Smart-Village, Drone, Wireless-Transmitter, and others have been chosen.
Under the supervision of Ajay Kumar Singhroha – Chief Human Resource Officer, Hindustan Zinc, selected models were presented virtually in the third and final phase. The chief guest selected the winning models, taking into account many parameters such as the model’s value in today’s society, comprehension of model building, involvement of all the team members in the presentation, etc. The model of Smart Village created by students of R. C. S. Gudli School from Debari won the first position. The model of a Solar-powered boat from Chittor took second place, while the model of vertical farming created by the students of Rajpura School in Dariba stood third.
Ms. Anupam Nidhi, Hindustan Zinc’s CSR Head, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in encouraging and boosting the students’ interest in Science, particularly girl students, to pursue careers in technology and science. She added we’ll have to work on bringing the laboratory into the classroom so that students can have the practical knowledge as well. The programme was led by Hindustan Zinc’s program champion, Ms. Ruchika Chawla and in the attendance of Vidya Bhavan and the CSR teams.
