Udaipur: On World Water Day, Hindustan Zinc organized a successful lake cleaning drive around Fatehsagar that witnessed a massive turnout of employees, volunteers and local residents along with Shri Tara Chand Meena, District Collector of Udaipur and Shri Arun Misra, CEO Hindustan Zinc. The objective was to spread awareness on the need to protect water bodies from pollution and ensuring a clean and healthy environment for aquatic life and visitors alike. The initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to promote environmental sustainability and community development.
Appreciating the efforts of Hindustan Zinc, Tara Chand Meena, District Collector of Udaipur said, “The lakes of Udaipur are a testament to the rich cultural heritage of our city and serve as a major attraction for tourists and locals. It is imperative that we prioritize the preservation and maintenance of these water bodies for the future generation to reap the benefits. The Lake Cleaning Drive by Hindustan Zinc further reiterates the commitment of the preservation of lakes by the people of the city. We must recognize the significance of our environment and instil a sense of responsibility.”
Speaking on the occasion Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc said, “The city of lakes has been blessed with scenic lakes and it is the responsibility of the people of the city to preserve them for future generations. At Hindustan Zinc, we are committed to preserving water bodies, and the Fatehsagar lake cleaning drive is one such initiative of ours to keep the city of lakes clean. With the help of the administration and our district collector Tara Chand Meena, we undertook this activity on the occasion of World Water Day with renewed spirits. It is up to us to keep the lakes clean and preserve water for society & future generations”.
The volunteers participated in the Lake Cleaning Drive with the goal – to do their bit for their beloved city’s environment and the water bodies. Bio-degradable gloves and collection bags were used to collect the waste material and the collected waste from the lake and its surroundings were segregated and disposed responsibly. The cleaning drive was followed by an educative Nukkad Natak to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation. The play urged the audience to take action to mitigate climate risk. Nukkad Natak was an engaging medium to educate the public and encourage them to participate in such initiatives to maintain a clean and healthy water body for the community.
