Over the years, Thaaikarangal has played a pivotal role in helping visually impaired women gain access to higher education and employment opportunities. As of 2026, the Trust has supported more than 50 visually challenged women, many from rural communities, in completing their college education and securing meaningful employment.

Beyond educational assistance and housing, the Trust facilitates travel arrangements, conducts workshops on digital literacy and assistive technologies, provides career guidance, and connects beneficiaries with prospective employers. These initiatives help ensure that the women lead independent, dignified, and self-reliant lives.

Building on its success, Thaaikarangal has also established a temporary hostel facility for visually challenged men preparing for competitive government examinations, extending its impact to a wider section of the visually impaired community.

Speaking on the occasion, J Balakrishnan, Whole Time Director & Chief Executive Officer, Belstar Microfinance Limited, said, “At Belstar, our commitment extends beyond providing financial services. We believe that meaningful social welfare initiatives are essential for building resilient and inclusive communities. Supporting organizations such as Thaaikarangal Charitable Trust aligns with our mission of empowering underserved individuals and creating lasting social impact. We are honoured to contribute to this noble cause and remain committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of underprivileged communities across Tamil Nadu.”

Expressing his appreciation for the contribution, Dr. R. Raja, President and Managing Trustee of Thaaikarangal Charitable Trust, thanked Belstar Microfinance Limited and its leadership for their generous support. He noted that the donation would significantly strengthen the Trust’s ability to achieve its mission and expand its services to benefit more visually challenged individuals.
