KATHUA, JAMMU & KASHMIR (India CSR) : In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare access in remote regions, Avaada Foundation donated two ambulances to the Health Department of Jammu & Kashmir under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. A dedication ceremony was held at the DC Office Complex, Kathua, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vijay Raina, District Health Officer Dr. Uttam and representatives from Avaada Foundation.
These ambulances will enhance emergency medical response and ensure timely access to healthcare facilities for residents across 512 hard-to-reach villages of Kathua district. The initiative aims to strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery and ensure that underserved communities are not denied critical care due to logistical constraints.
Appreciating the contribution, Dr. Rakesh Minhas (DC Kathua) stated, “These ambulances will play a crucial role in timely evacuation and transportation during medical emergencies. With their addition, our district now has a total of 41 ambulances—ensuring better outreach with around 6 to 8 ambulances per medical block.”
Dr. Vijay Raina, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kathua, extended his gratitude to the Foundation, noting, “The Avaada Foundation’s support aligns seamlessly with our healthcare goals. These vans will bridge a major gap in providing respectful final journeys, especially for our most vulnerable communities.”
Also present was Dr. Uttam, District Health Officer (DHO), Kathua, who remarked, “This initiative reflects a compassionate and practical response to on-ground healthcare challenges. We are thankful for this timely support.”
Previously, Avaada Foundation had donated 1,355 blood pressure monitors and adapters to the J&K Health Department, helping address equipment shortages for better diagnostic capabilities.
Avaada Foundation is currently active in 19 states across India, focusing on sustainable interventions in health, education, empowerment, and the environment. It runs a dedicated ambulance service in rural Bikaner, Rajasthan, and is soon donating another ambulance to the Government of Karnataka, expanding its southern footprint.
Regular health camps, dental and eye check-ups, animal health drives, and free surgeries are also part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to inclusive healthcare.
