BANGALORE (India CSR): Cosmo Foundation, the CSR arm of Cosmo First, has launched a significant environmental initiative by introducing a Miyawaki Tree Plantation Drive at the BSF Campus in Gurugram. This event was inaugurated by Shri Daljit Singh Chawdhary, IPS, Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), and is dedicated to the memory of Late Shri Ashwini Kumar, former DG of BSF and father of Mrs. Yamini Jaipuria.
Plantation Drive to Enhance Green Coverage
The plantation drive is set to plant over 15,000 trees, utilizing the innovative Miyawaki method, which allows forests to grow ten times faster than traditional techniques. This initiative aims to cover an area of 5,500 square meters, creating dense, self-sustaining urban forests that will enhance local biodiversity and improve the ecological footprint.
“Our efforts to enhance product efficiency, reduce harmful emissions, and optimize operations not only benefit the environment but also bolster our business,” said Mr. Ashok Jaipuria, Chairman and Managing Director of Cosmo First. “This plantation drive underscores our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our environment and protecting vital biodiversity.”
Honoring a Legacy
The timing of the event is particularly poignant, as it coincides with the death anniversary of Late Shri Ashwini Kumar. Mrs. Yamini Jaipuria expressed her sentiments, stating, “This initiative represents our dedication to environmental sustainability and community engagement. By partnering with BSF, we’re fostering a sense of environmental responsibility in our community.”
Building on Past Successes
This plantation drive builds on Cosmo Foundation’s successful track record, following a previous initiative with the Indian Army that also saw the planting of over 15,000 saplings. The foundation has already planted 100,000 trees, contributing to biodiversity and strengthening ecosystems across various locations.
“This is an excellent initiative by the Cosmo Foundation to plant saplings and promote environmental sustainability,” said Shri Daljit Singh Chawdhary. “We are setting a positive example for future generations.”
The event attracted participation from BSF commandants, retired IPS officers, and students from local schools and universities, all united in their commitment to nurturing the environment. The entire project is implemented in partnership with Prayas Youth Foundation, which brings expertise in environmental sustainability.
Cosmo Foundation’s ongoing commitment to education, health, and sanitation initiatives further reflects its holistic approach to community development and sustainable living, ensuring a greener future for all.
