NEW DELHI: CLP India, one of the largest foreign investors in the Indian power sector, has partnered with CII Foundation to fight against the second wave of the pandemic in India.

The company announced that it has pledged Rs. 6.8 crores to support the country and its citizens in tackling the challenges brought about by COVID-19. From this fund, CLP India will extend INR 3 crore support to CII Foundation and INR 1 crore to its local non-profit partners. CLP Holdings has also committed HKD 3 million (INR 2.8 crore) support, part of which will go to PM Cares fund and CII.

CLP India realises that financial contributions alone cannot help in the fight against the current pandemic. Therefore, it will also deploy its personnel and resources to aid CII Foundation’s teams at the grassroot levels in reaching out to the beneficiaries directly. The company will focus its efforts in supporting CII Foundation procure oxygen, and other lifesaving medical devices or supplies to ease the burden on the already overwhelmed and strained medical set ups across India.

It will also help CII Foundation speed up vaccination coverage and enhance COVID appropriate behaviour. The company will help with provision of essentials to affected communities and aid in building long-term resilience. Additionally, it will also work towards addressing the needs of its own catchment communities by supporting them thorough its local non-profit partners.

Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director, CLP India, said, “The past year as well as the current one has been extremely challenging for everyone. These extraordinary circumstances have tested our collective resilience and ability to collaborate to ensure a brighter future for the world, our own country, and the communities we operate in or serve. As we continue to fight the effects of the pandemic, we at CLP India remain steadfast in our commitment to the country, and its people. We are truly grateful for our partnership with CII Foundation that has enabled us to channel our collective expertise and resources in reaching last mile beneficiaries to nurse them back to financial or physical health.”

During the past year, CLP India contributed INR 4.1 crore towards the overall COVID-19 relief and resilience building projects. Through its joint COVID-19 relief efforts with CII Foundation in 2020, the company benefited over 90,000 individuals across India. It partnered with local organisations in business catchments to provide relief aid and hygiene kits to government offices. As part of the partnership, CLP India also reached out to more than 400,000 people including notified and de-notified tribes, people affected with leprosy, elderly, women and children affected by the pandemic.

CLP India’s CSR team has pledged to continue working closely with CII Foundation to help expedite the support and relief work as needed, especially towards strengthening the government’s efforts in the collective fight against the pandemic.
