MUMBAI: Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai’s busy financial district, today received fresh new lungs in the form of Jio Garden, a one-of-its-kind, open, green space. Spread over 13,000 square metres, the garden sits on a massive, state-of-the-art, two-level car-park, one of the largest, standalone underground facilities in India.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, dedicated the Jio Garden to the city of Mumbai in the presence of Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries and Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation. Cinema icon Amitabh Bachchan, Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar and a host of dignitaries were present on the occasion.

2. World class security and fire protection infrastructure
3. Solar panels, organic waste convertor and sewage treatment plants

Speaking at the inauguration, Nita Ambani said: “Jio Garden is an example of our commitment to creating world-class, multi-purpose and technology-enabled public spaces for a fast growing India. It also resonates with every Mumbaikar’s dream of living in a sophisticated, digitally-enabled city that is still in touch with its beautiful physical roots”
Jio Garden is a joint initiative of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and a gift to the city of Mumbai, which is starved of open spaces. Jio Garden will be a catalyst for bringing the community together by providing access to well-maintained green spaces.
Supporting the Chief Minister’s vision of developing Mumbai as a digitally-enabled Smart City, Jio Garden will offer best-in-class 4G-enabled services, driver lounges and public address and security systems.
Built on 13,000 square meters, the exquisitely landscaped garden has one of the largest, multi-purpose, ‘non-toxic’ synthetic turf installations in Asia.
The integrated car parking facility has special access ramps for the differently-abled. Security of women users has been given special attention with a grid of CCTV cameras, besides alternate pillars sporting ‘panic buttons’ for use in emergencies.
