CHENNAI: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 20 January launched two new services viz., Business Mentoring Service and Senior Expert Advisory Service for the benefit of SMEs in Southern Region.
For the Business Mentoring Service, a MoU was signed between CII, Southern Region and Coaching Foundation India (CFI). Mr T T Ashok, Chairman, CII Southern Region and Mr Ganesh Chella, Vice Chairman, CFI signed the MoU. Under the MoU, CFI would provide coaching service to CII member companies through their panel of experts and mentors.
Speaking at the launch meeting, Mr T T Ashok, Chairman, CII Southern Region said the two new services launched today were part of the ongoing initiatives of CII aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs.
Mr Ashok said that the Business Mentoring Services launched in partnership with Coaching Foundation India Ltd (CFI) would offer SMEs with benefits like leadership excellence, competitiveness, capacity building besides mentoring support to realize their true potential in moving towards the next tragectory of growth.
The Senior Expert Advisory Service would provide handholding service to enhance technical skill through an empanelled group of experts. The experts would extend support and guidance to SMEs in the areas of Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Manufacturing, Green Technology, Energy Efficiency, Quality, 5S, Kaizens, etc.
Mr P K Mohapatra, Chairman, CSR – Social Development & Community Affairs Sub-Committee, CII-SR said that Indian organisations of every form have had a long and rich tradition of transmitting wisdom – from one generation to the other, from seniors to juniors, from gurus to sishyas. In this context, the partnership between CII and CFI would go a long way in preparing the nextgen CEOs, who are ready for the change and transformation towards building a new India.
Mr S Nagarajan, Head of the CII – Southern Region Core Group Committee on Senior Expert Advisory Service and Advisor, TAFE Ltd in his address said that SMEs over the years, have been facing enormous challenges. The new services for SMEs launched today by the CII would help SMEs to move up the value chain to become global companies from the current status of Tier II & Tier III suppliers.
At the session, Mr Vellayan Subbiah, Managing Director, Cholamandalam Finance & Investments Ltd – Murugappa Group and Dr G Venkatesh, Chief Technology & Strategy Officer, SASKEN Communication Technologies Ltd shared their experiences as beneficiaries of Coaching Foundation of India (CFI).
