Astarc Group distributes 266 cycles to tribal students of Palghar under CSR program

The objective of the initiative is to ease getting schools and help students be regular to classes. Accessibility of education in the rural and semi-urban area is also dependent on the availability of transport facilities.

PALGHAR/MUMBAI: In an initiative aimed at helping the rural students, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme – Astarc Group gifted 266 bicycles to the rural tribal students of Zillah Parishad School Saivan under Vasai Taluka under Palghar District of Maharashtra. 15th e-Learning Lab in the school has also been established to provide basic computers education and better learning environment to 185 student inaugurated.

On Jan 9, 2019 in a 3rd cycle distribution programe, Hitendra Vishnu Thakur, hon’ble MLA of Vasai; Baliram Jadhav, Hon’ble first MP of Palghar and Kishore Musale, Chairman of Astarc Group and Rusen Kumar, Founder and Editor, India CSR Network; Upendra Sontakke, Head CSR, Astarc Group handed over the bicycles to the students and inaugurated the e-Learning Lab at the school.

While speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Hitendra Vishnu Thakur, hon’ble MLA of Vasai said that cycles were being given to students so that they need not depend on any other mode of transportation to travel between their home and school. This initiative will motivate the girls to come school daily. He said that the beneficiary-students should work hard to achieve their goals and lead a disciplined life. Hon’ble MLA Shri Hitendra Vishnu Thakur appreciated the Astarc Group for their wonderful CSR projects being executed in the region.

Baliram Jadhav, Hon’ble first MP of Palghar said that providing better education infrastructure and better environment to our children is our collective responsibility. Education has lots of dimensions and it has great impact on life of people and society. He said that it’s student’s responsibility to utilize the infrastructure and facilities to excel in school life. Hon’ble Baliram Jadhav applauded Astarc Group’s participation in the socio-economy development of Palghar region.

While addressing the students and gathering, Kishore Musale, hon’ble Chairman of Astarc Group said that his organization is committed to cause specially in education.

“We believe that education is the fundamental to development. These bicycles will ensure that our rural students do not have to spend much time walking to school. Cycling is also good for the health. We hope that our e-learning lab will equally add value to the learning process.”, Shri Kishore Musale, hon’ble Chairman of Astarc Group.

Giving insight of the program, Upendra Sontakke, Head CSR, Astarc Group said, “We at Astac Group has always given importance to quality education, with a special emphasis to encourage the education of the rural students. The objective of this program is to address the commuting problems faced by the local students who travel long distances to reach school, thereby, motivating them to increase their attendance.

The programme was attended by school management committee, members of the grampanchayat, headmasters of schools, teachers and parents, along with representatives from CSR team of Astarc Group. The efforts of Kishore Musale Charitable Trust in providing bicycles to the students was well appreciated by community. The school committee extended their gratitude towards Kishore Musale Charitable Trust for contributing to the development of the village at large and addressing to the needs of the students.

Kishore Musale Charitable Trust, Mumbai the CSR wing of Astarc Group has introduced the concept of bicycle bank in rural area where its CSR programs are being executed. Trust has been working in the area of education, health care, skill development, women empowerment, livelihood creation, and entrepreneurship development. The purpose behind gifting of bicycle is to encourage students to attend school daily and perform well in class rooms and maintain punctuality. The bicycles will be retained by schools and rotated amongst newly enrolled students every year under the Cycle Bank. Broadly bicycle bank will lead to encourage enrollment of girl child to school, facilitate students to reach a distant School, ensure their studies and to initiate retention, motivate and to enhance their will power, enhances quality in education and Reduce transport time.

E- Learning is one of the tool towards making the teaching learning experience more encouraging. It attempts to make learning experience joyful for students and at the same time it reduces heavy burden on the part of teachers.
