Anshu Taneja

Managing Director, VisionSpring, India

Anshu Taneja is an award-winning social entrepreneur and has MBAs from the Amity Business School, Noida (India), and the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford (United Kingdom). He is also a Science Graduate from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi (India).

Work Experience

Anshu has several years of experience working in various roles across different countries and sectors. Anshu has had long stints with Karl Storz and Johnson & Johnson in various capacities. He has also worked with De Beers, Riders for Health, and Opera Software in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Leadership at VisionSpring 

Anshu has been leading VisionSpring in India since 2013 and has grown its impact 10-fold. VisionSpring provides clear vision through eyeglasses to 1 million people in India annually, thus helping them earn and learn better and lead safer lives. In the process, it also conducts vision screenings annually for more than 2.7 million people in India. VisionSpring adds more than $215 million to India’s GDP annually, thus creating an instant, measurable, and life-changing impact for those touched by its work.

Associations 

Anshu is a Fellow of the Aspire Circle, a forum for promoting enlightened social leadership. He was the Chair of Consumer, Marketing, and Healthcare Oxford Business Network (OBN). He was also the Member of the Hospital Planning Sectional Committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards. Anshu was appointed the representative for the UNU, and GIZ supported the global Women’s Health Initiative for improving women’s health in developing countries.

A tennis player

He is a competent tennis player, has played junior nationals in India, and has captained the Saïd Business School team at MBAT (MBA Olympics) in Paris (France). His interests include running, movies, and travelling.

Honour and Recognition

Anshu is passionate about leveraging business principles to change the world. In 2017, the University of Oxford, Saïd Business School, and the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship recognised Anshu as an Outstanding Alumnus for using his career to create high-impact and effect positive change. In 2019, The British Council recognized Anshu as a Distinguished Alumnus. In 2019, Anshu also received the NGO Leadership Award at the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summit and Awards in Mumbai (India). In 2021, Anshu received the Amity Alumni Achiever Award for Public Contribution and Entrepreneurship and the Indian Achievers’ Award for outstanding professional achievement and contribution in nation-building.
