ANGUL: A Sputum Testing Center, under Revised National Tuberculosis Programme (RNTCP), has been inaugurated at the Occupational Health Center (OHC) of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) situated at Jindal Nagar Township in Angul of Odisha.
Dr. Trilochan Pradhan, CDMO-Angul, graced the inauguration ceremony as Chief-Guest and dedicated the center for the wellbeing of the people in presence of Ravi Kant Somani, EVP & Group Head (OHS); Brig. K.K. Chopra, VSM (Retd.), Head Administration; Alok Malhotra, Head-HR & ES; Dr.K.P. Behera, Head-Medical Services – JSPL; B. P. Singh, GM-Safety & TPM; Dr. Manas Ranjan Biswal, District Tuberculosis Officer along with other staff members of OHC.
Attending the function, Dr. Trilochan Pradhan said “This is first of its kind initiative in Angul as District Health Administration (DHA) joins hand with a private organization to fight Tuberculosis. This center has been equipped with all the necessary chemicals and materials supported by DHA. Patients can avail free treatment and medicines as per the rider of RNTCP”.
On receiving such kind of unique support from the DHA, the Executive Director (I/c) and Location Head of JSPL’s Angul unit Atul Misra expressed his gratitude and said “This center will run under Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode and will be definitely helpful for the people of this vicinity in detecting and treating Tuberculosis at an early stage”.
JSPL has initiated several programmes for improving healthcare and quality of life of people in the villages around its plant in Angul. The Company has been running several programmes like Kishori Express in coordination with the District Administration.
