MUMBAI: Mobile 1000, the flagship programme of Wockhardt Foundation organized a Mega Health Checkup camp at Dholka and Valthera regions in Ahmedabad in association with Concord Biotech Ltd. The Health Check up camp was carried out at Bhetawada Prathmik Shala and Bapa Sitaram Chowk. More than 600 people were reached and directly benefitted through this Health Check-up camp.
The health care check up covered about 6 schools, 12 anganwadis and the surrounding community. This check up camp offered variety of services like dental check up, bone densitometry check, and general check-ups like blood sugar, hemoglobin, blood group, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI etc.

Dholka has emerged as a major industrial hub with some major industries having their plants there. Concord Biotech Ltd. Is one of the major industries with two plants at Dholka and Valthera respectively. Since January 2017, Concord Biotech Ltd is operating a Mobile Medical Van in the villages of Dholka and Valthera; in partnership with Wockhardt Foundation. Through this Mobile van, these communities can access quality healthcare and medicines free of cost. In addition, the project also includes community awareness and sensitization through interactive health talks and free distribution of low cost Sanitary napkins and water purification tabelts at schools, aaganwadis and communities at large.
Wockhardt Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which engages in social service and human welfare activities, seeks to provide primary healthcare to the rural areas of India through Mobile 1000 healthcare vans and are present in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh etc.
Launched in 2007, Wockhardt Foundation’s ISO 9001:2015 approved Mobile 1000 programme has been successfully administering high quality, free, primary healthcare services to approximately 2000 villages across 18 states of India, each van servicing atleast 25,000 people per year. Since the inception of the programme, 175.16 lakh people have been treated and directly benefitted through the services of the Mobile 1000 vans.
Mobile 1000 Healthcare Van
The Mobile 1000 health van is equipped with a GPS tracking system and consists of one doctor, one pharmacist and one driver. This van travels across villages conducting free OPD/health screening for rural people and providing free basic health services. They work towards creating awareness in rural areas on sanitation, hygiene, mother and child healthcare, safe drinking water, immunization, anemia, de-worming, vector-borne diseases, HIV, snake-bites, diabetes and tuberculosis. This is followed up with diagnosis and treatment. Specific cases requiring specialty care are referred to specialists. Also IEC (Information, Education & Communication) material relevant to the health awareness is distributed in the regional language to the people.
