KORBA: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (Balco) organised many exciting programmes in its Nari Shakti Kendra in Village Dondro on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The Chief Guest for the programme was Renu Prakash, Officer, Korba District Women and Child Welfare Department. She praised the villagers for their huge participation in the programme.
Renu Prakash and Aditya Sharma, Guest of Honour, Officer- Women and Child Welfare, appealed to the women, children and teenage girls to make full use of the Nari Shakti Kendra for their development. Sadhna Varma, Head-Sustainability, Balco speaking as Guest of Honour at the function gave her good wishes to the gathering and mentioned that Balco has implemented many community development projects in Dondro and the people should come forward to participate in Balco’s innovative and exciting programmes.
Ashish Ranjan, Head- CC & CSR, Balco said that the aim of the Nari Shakti Kendra is to provide opportunities to women and children in order to move ahead in life. He shared that lot of activities are running in the Kendra like stitching and embroidery training, Special classes for educationally weak children, computer classes etc. These activities are helping in making women self -independent and are carving a bright future for children.
A Rangoli and a Cooking competition were also organised on the occasion. Babita Kanwar came first in the competitions and Lalita Kanwar received the second prize. In the cooking competition, Babita Kanwar stood first. Reena Kanwar came second. Women and children also enthralled everybody with their lively group dance.
The programme saw the presence of Kamla Bai, Panch, Dondro Village, Indulekha, Kusum Bhuarya, R.R. Sahu and R. Kumar; Kanchan Nagesia, Associate Manager, Community Development, Balco, Raj Krishna Trivedi, Asst. Manager and Dickson Masih, President of ‘Shroth’, a self- service organisation.
