NEW DELHI: Carrie Morgridge, an American philanthropist and Vice President of the Morgridge Family Foundation, makes her debut in India through Every Gift Matters in 6 major cities – New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai. Sharing inspiring stories of powerful gifts in action, she explains in her book how to turn the act of giving into a vehicle for positive change.
In her book Every Gift Matters: How Your Passion Can Change the World, Carrie Morgridge argues that philanthropy isn’t about writing a check; it’s about the value we create when we invest in local communities, follow our principles, and make a lasting difference.
Talking at her debut book launch in New Delhi, Carrie Morgridge said, “The smallest donation on the planet can transform a life – I have this first hand. And, the best part is, it transforms two lives: the one who receives and the one who gives. Through my book Every Gift Matters, I have shared real-life stories of how having a hands-on approach to giving has transformed lives including my own. I believe that anyone and everyone can make a difference in their community, no matter what the size of the gift. The first step is believing you can – are you ready to change the world?”
The book will not only inspire you by the acts of selfless compassion and joy but it also shows how even the most modest acts of philanthropy can have a meaningful impact upon the lives of others. It will help teach the readers about how to effectively support the causes you believe in and feel that your small effort giving to others is actually very big and makes a difference in somebody’s life.
This initiative to bring Carrie Morgridge to India is organized by Amitabh Shah, Founder & Chief Inspiration Office, YUVA Unstoppable. YUVA Unstoppable is India’s premier youth movement, which has mobilized over 150,000 volunteers to benefit over 400,000 underprivileged children across 30 cities of India.
Quoting Albert Einstein, FLO President Vinita Bimbhet said, “It is every person’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it and the value of a person resides in what he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving.”
The cornerstone upon which FLO was founded was economic empowerment of women and FLO’s goal this year has been to create an IMPACT in the lives of all women across society and at all levels. FLO shared a copy of the book with each member in the audience.
With Every Gift Matters, Carrie Morgridge takes readers into the heart of the world of philanthropy. We all give to those in need at some point in our lives. Whether that gift is in the form of time or money, you will learn how to make decisions that will maximize their impact on the world. Through actionable advice and touching stories, Every Gift Matters will show you how to leverage your gift of time or money—regardless of size—and make it work harder, work smarter, and have a bigger impact on your community.
Every Gift Matters is at once conversational and direct—specific tips on how to make informed decisions are further illustrated through stories of the Morgridges’ personal experiences. In this heartwarming book, you will learn to research opportunities for giving and the importance of aligning oneself with others through trust, understanding, and shared goals. Morgridge believes every dollar can always work harder, and she delights in finding nonprofits that seek every way possible to maximize the money they are given. By sharing both the successes and the failures of grant makings, she will show you how to make all of this happen—compounding your gift to others.
