HYDERABAD: The Formation Day of the State Bank of India here was marked by corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives including donating a school van to Bala Vikas Educational Society for the Disabled Children. At a brief function on Tuesday morning, the bank’s Chief General Manager-Hyderabad Circle, C.R. Sasi Kumar, gave away the 14-seater minibus to the society’s representatives.
In the evening, at an impressive function, the bank felicitated Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta, badminton star P.V. Sindhu, social activist Shantha Sinha, managing director of Aaarvee Associates Chakrapani and the conquerors of Mount Everest, Poorna and Anand.
Mr. Sasi Kumar said that in the financial year 2013-14, the bank’s donations as part of its CSR added up to Rs. 15.84 crore. This included school buses, medical equipment and ambulances worth Rs. 7.14 crore to 21 deserving organisations and ceiling fans, water purifiers and computers to government schools worth Rs. 8.70 crore.
