NEW DELHI (India CSR): Prakash Tewari has announced that he has joined the Board of Directors of Grameen Foundation for Social Impact (GFSI), an organisation working with underserved communities, particularly women, through livelihoods, agriculture, health, nutrition, digital financial inclusion and entrepreneurship. In a LinkedIn post, Tewari said he looked forward to contributing his experience in sustainability, CSR, community development and social impact to the organisation’s mission. He described women’s empowerment as a powerful route to strengthening families, communities and society. “True development is not merely about providing resources; it is about creating opportunities, building capabilities, and enabling people to become architects of their own future,” he wrote.
GFSI’s work is centred on addressing barriers faced by low-income communities through community engagement, technology applications, data and partnerships. Its programmes include agriculture and livelihood practices, innovations in digital finance and women’s entrepreneurship. The organisation says it aims to strengthen access, adoption and quality through scalable models that support long-term social and economic progress. Its website identifies Bharati Joshi as CEO of Grameen Foundation India and GFSI, while its programme portfolio includes initiatives focused on women-led small businesses, agri-entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.
Tewari brings more than three decades of experience in social, environmental and educational management, according to his public LinkedIn profile. The profile highlights his work in community engagement, sustainability, CSR, resource-based development and social-impact leadership. His appointment brings this experience to a board role at a time when women’s economic participation, digital access and sustainable livelihoods remain central to India’s inclusive-development agenda. Tewari said he sees social impact as enabling people to realise their potential, live with dignity and build a better future.
