Jaipur-based hyperlocal commerce startup Mobile Ki Dukaan has received a seed funding commitment along with token money at a valuation of Rs 1 crore from a leading Rajasthan-based distribution group with a retail network of more than 10,000 outlets. The development is expected to support the startup’s next phase of expansion across Rajasthan and other Hindi-speaking markets.

JAIPUR: Mobile Ki Dukaan, a Jaipur-based hyperlocal commerce and mobile retail discovery platform, has secured a seed funding commitment and received token money from a major Rajasthan-based distribution group, valuing the startup at approximately ₹1 crore.

The investor and strategic distribution partner has a network of more than 10,000 retailers, with a presence across markets including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and several other parts of India.

The development comes as Mobile Ki Dukaan prepares to deepen its presence in Rajasthan while expanding its technology and retailer network across India’s Hindi-speaking belt.

According to Manuj Vyas, Founder of Mobile Ki Dukaan, the company’s immediate focus is to build deeper penetration in Hindi-speaking markets and bring a larger number of offline mobile retailers and MSMEs onto a technology-driven commerce and discovery ecosystem.

“Our target is to cover the Hindi-speaking belt as quickly as possible. There is a very large base of capable retailers and MSME owners who understand their customers and products extremely well, but many of them still do not have access to the kind of technology available to large online platforms. Mobile Ki Dukaan wants to bridge that gap,” said Manuj Vyas.

The startup is targeting approximately ₹2 crore in subscription revenue as it expands its retailer network and introduces its commerce, digital-discovery and technology services across additional markets.

Helping Local Mobile Shops Compete in the Age of AI

Mobile Ki Dukaan has been built around a simple problem: while local mobile retailers may have competitive prices, products in stock and attractive offers, consumers increasingly begin their buying journey on Google, AI-powered search platforms and online marketplaces.

Smaller retailers often remain invisible during this discovery phase.

Mobile Ki Dukaan aims to give non-technical shopkeepers and MSME owners access to technology that can improve their digital presence without requiring them to build or manage complex technology infrastructure themselves.

The platform structures information around retailers, locations, mobile phones, availability, prices and offers so that nearby shops and their products can become more discoverable across digital search and emerging AI-led discovery experiences.

For retailers, this means an opportunity to participate in the customer’s digital research journey before the customer has decided where to purchase the phone.

For consumers, it means being able to check what phones may be available nearby, compare prices and offers, identify local sellers and complete much of the pre-purchase research before physically visiting the market.

“Our main objective is to empower the non-technical shopkeeper and MSME owner with high-end technology so that they can compete with large platforms, particularly in discovery and product search,” Vyas said.

“Today a customer searches online before visiting a store. A local retailer may have the right phone, the right price and even a better offer, but if that information cannot be discovered digitally, the retailer may never enter the customer’s consideration set. We want to change that.”

Real-Time Local Stock, Prices and Offers

Unlike a conventional business-directory model, Mobile Ki Dukaan is developing its platform around actual mobile-product discovery.

Consumers can use the platform to explore mobile phones and check information from nearby participating retailers, including stock availability, prices and ongoing offers.

This allows a customer interested in a particular smartphone to perform a significant portion of the pre-sales journey digitally.

Instead of visiting multiple shops simply to ask whether a model or variant is available, the customer can first identify potential nearby sellers and compare the available information.

The platform also enables buyers to evaluate local-market options alongside major online platforms, helping them decide whether purchasing from a nearby retailer offers better convenience, availability, service or value.

The company believes this model can reduce unnecessary market visits while at the same time sending retailers customers who already have stronger purchase intent.

AI Discovery Could Become the Next Battleground for Local Retail

Mobile Ki Dukaan is also positioning itself around a major shift taking place in consumer discovery.

Traditional search is increasingly being supplemented by AI-generated answers, conversational search and recommendation systems. Consumers are beginning to ask questions such as where a particular smartphone is available nearby, which shop is offering a better price, or where they can find a particular variant.

For a local business to participate in these discovery journeys, its business and product information needs to exist in a structured and machine-understandable form.

Mobile Ki Dukaan is working to make participating retailers and their products more accessible to these new discovery systems.

The company does not see AI only as a technology for large corporations. Its broader objective is to make AI-era discovery infrastructure accessible to neighbourhood retailers who may not have their own technology teams, SEO specialists or sophisticated ecommerce platforms.

This could become increasingly important as the battle for retail customers moves from simply having a website to being discoverable when consumers ask search engines and AI platforms what to buy and where to buy it.

Rajasthan First, Hindi Belt Next

With its roots in Jaipur, Mobile Ki Dukaan plans to use Rajasthan as a deep-market base before accelerating expansion into other Hindi-speaking states.

The strategic relationship with a distribution group connected to more than 10,000 retailers could also provide the startup with access to an established offline ecosystem as it works to increase adoption among mobile shops.

The company’s expansion strategy is expected to remain focused on markets where offline mobile retail continues to play an important role despite the growth of ecommerce.

Rather than attempting to replace physical retailers, Mobile Ki Dukaan is building technology around them.

The startup believes that India’s next phase of local commerce will increasingly combine the strengths of physical retail – immediate availability, local relationships, product demonstration and after-sales support- with the discovery advantages traditionally associated with large digital platforms.

For Mobile Ki Dukaan, the seed funding commitment represents more than capital. It also connects the startup with a large retail ecosystem at a stage when its primary objective is rapid expansion across Rajasthan and India’s wider Hindi-speaking market.

As AI increasingly influences how consumers discover products and businesses, Mobile Ki Dukaan is betting that India’s neighbourhood mobile retailer should have a place in that discovery layer too – not just the country’s largest ecommerce companies.
