PATNA ( India CSR®) : In a major initiative to strengthen the capacity of the rapidly expanding microfinance sector, the Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna Business Incubation and Innovation Foundation (CIMP-BIIF) has launched a “15-day Residential Certification Programme on BFSI” for Microfinance Professionals. The programme commencing on 04 August 2026, aims to equip participants with contemporary knowledge, regulatory understanding, ethical practices, and managerial skills required for effective and responsible microfinance operations. The first programme will have 47 participants from Annapurna Finance Pvt. Ltd., a leading MFI of the country.
The intensive residential programme offers comprehensive training on the evolution of microfinance, various microfinance models and their comparative advantages, Self-Help Group (SHG) and Joint Liability Group (JLG) lending models, financial inclusion, RBI regulations governing NBFC-MFIs, regulatory compliance, financial statement analysis, client protection, Fair Practices Code, responsible lending, prevention of over-indebtedness, and professional ethics. Participants will also receive practical training in decision-making, communication and presentation skills, stress and time management, and the application of basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in microfinance operations.
Addressing the occasion, Prof. Rana Singh, Director, CIMP, said, “Bihar today is the largest microfinance market in the country, with an outstanding credit portfolio of nearly Rs. 60,000 crore. As the sector expands, there is an urgent need for well-trained professionals who combine technical competence with ethical values and customer-centric practices. This programme reflects CIMP’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting inclusive finance and sustainable economic development. We also see significant opportunities for youth to build rewarding careers in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector through such specialized training.”

Dr. Sunil Kumar, Former CGM, NABARD & Associate Dean, CIMP said that the programe content has been carefully designed based on training need assessment made on the basis of field visit to a branch of MFI. He said that the programe content includes both technical inputs as well as soft skill related inputs. It is expected that after going through this programe the participant will be fully ready to undertake micro finance operations with all the ethical standards and principles of responsible lending.
The programme is expected to serve as an important platform for capacity building of microfinance institutions operating in Bihar while creating a pipeline of professionally trained manpower for the BFSI sector. Through this initiative, CIMP reinforces its commitment to promoting financial inclusion, responsible finance, and human capital development in one of India’s fastest-growing microfinance markets.
