The collaboration will offer practical training in marine safety, vessel inspection, firefighting systems, alternative fuels and regulatory compliance.
NEW DELHI (India CSR): SHM Shipcare Private Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Medhavi Skills University to strengthen skill development and create an industry-ready workforce for India’s expanding maritime sector. Under the agreement, SHM Academy has received official affiliation from Medhavi Skills University. It will operate as an industry-integrated learning platform that combines recognised academic education with practical exposure to maritime operations.
Industry-Linked Education
The collaboration will introduce structured training programmes covering maritime operations, marine safety, technical competencies and established industry practices. The courses will be aligned with the changing workforce requirements of shipping, shipbuilding, ship repair and maritime safety businesses. By integrating classroom learning with hands-on training, the partners aim to prepare learners for technical and operational roles across the maritime ecosystem.
Specialised Training Programmes
SHM Academy will offer programmes for students, early-career professionals and individuals seeking specialised education in maritime disciplines. The curriculum will cover marine safety systems, vessel inspections, firefighting systems, alternative fuels, fire watch training, technical operations, regulatory compliance and workplace safety. Learners will receive practical exposure intended to strengthen their understanding of real-world maritime operations and safety requirements.
Employability Gets Focus
The affiliation with Medhavi Skills University will enable SHM Academy to deliver industry-relevant education aligned with recognised academic standards. The partnership is expected to enhance learners’ technical capabilities and improve their employability across different segments of the maritime industry. The initiative will also seek to narrow the gap between academic education and the practical skills required by employers in the sector.
Future Workforce Development
Saifuddin Hajee, Group Chairman and CEO of SHM Shipcare, said the collaboration would establish a platform integrating academic learning with practical industry exposure. “Through this collaboration, we hope to establish a robust platform that seamlessly integrates academic learning with practical industry exposure, equipping learners with the knowledge, technical expertise and industry-ready skills required to meet the evolving needs of the maritime sector,” Hajee said. He added that the initiative would contribute to developing a future-ready workforce capable of supporting India’s growing maritime ambitions.
Bridging Skills Gap
Mohammed Hajee, CEO – Marine & Fire Safety at SHM Shipcare, said SHM Academy had been established to develop industry-ready talent through hands-on training in marine safety systems, technical operations and best practices. “Our affiliation with Medhavi Skills University further strengthens the academy’s ability to deliver structured, industry-aligned programmes that help bridge the sector’s skill gap across diverse maritime disciplines,” he said. The partnership comes as India’s maritime ecosystem increasingly requires trained professionals with specialised technical, safety and regulatory knowledge.
