The initiative is among the larger electric heavy-duty trucking deployments in northern India’s cement sector.
JAIPUR (India CSR): UltraTech Cement Limited, a cement and building solutions company, said it has deployed 45 electric heavy-duty trucks, further strengthen its existing fleet of more than 750 green trucks, in partnership with Energy In Motion for clinker transportation from Rajasthan to grinding units in the Delhi-NCR region, with a projected reduction of over 8,900 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
The fleet will move clinker from Kotputli Cement Works, UltraTech’s integrated manufacturing unit in Rajasthan, to Dadri Cement Works and Sikandarabad Cement Works. The route covers about 250 kilometres across Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The deployment follows a transport service contract between UltraTech, Energy In Motion and a logistics service provider. The company said the initiative is among the larger electric heavy-duty trucking deployments in northern India’s cement sector.
The 45 electric trucks have a capacity of 55 tonnes each. They will be used for long-haul clinker movement, a key logistics activity in cement manufacturing.
UltraTech said the electric truck deployment has the potential to reduce over 8,900 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. It is also expected to displace the equivalent of about 2.9 million litres of diesel each year.
The initiative is linked to the company’s green logistics approach and supports the broader movement towards cleaner commercial transportation in India.

The company said the 45 electric trucks further strengthen its existing fleet of more than 750 green trucks.
UltraTech began using CNG trucks in 2021, LNG trucks in 2022 and electric trucks in 2024. As of FY26, the company operates 638 CNG trucks, 32 LNG trucks and 89 electric trucks across its manufacturing units.
K C Jhanwar, Managing Director, UltraTech Cement Limited, said, “India’s ambition for clean, energy-secure transportation demands industry action, and UltraTech is committed to being at the forefront. This deployment reflects our belief that decarbonising logistics is as strategic as decarbonising production. By shifting long-haul clinker movement to electric, we are aligning with the country’s stated objective to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, while building a supply chain that is resilient, responsible, and future-ready.”
UltraTech Cement Limited is the cement flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group. The company said it has a grey cement capacity of 205.5 MTPA and white cement and putty capacity of 3.5 MTPA. It is also a signatory to the GCCA Climate Ambition 2050 and has committed to the Net Zero Concrete roadmap announced by GCCA.
