Programme launched in Bharatpur, Rajasthan to create 1,800 digitally enabled women entrepreneurs.
RAJASTHAN (India CSR): Vedanta’s Nand Ghar initiative, through its partnership with Frontier Markets, is set to significantly enhance economic opportunities for rural women by enabling them to become digitally empowered entrepreneurs. By providing structured training, access to digital tools, and market-linked livelihood opportunities, the programme will help women build sustainable incomes, strengthen local economies, and bridge the digital divide in underserved communities. This initiative reflects how collaborative, technology-driven models can accelerate women’s financial independence while fostering inclusive and self-reliant rural development.
The program seeks to strengthen livelihood opportunities across Nand Ghar communities by equipping rural women with structured digital training, access to modern tools, and market-linked opportunities to participate in income-generating activities. In this programme, women will be supported in building sustainable micro-enterprises that cater to real consumer demand in their communities.
The project is expected to develop 1,800 digital women grocers in the Nand Ghars in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, creating a network of digitally enabled rural entrepreneurs who can provide essential products and services within their communities while building independent sources of income.
With focus on enhancing women’s economic participation by providing training in digital commerce, financial literacy, and enterprise development and leveraging technology and grassroots networks, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide while unlocking new livelihood pathways for rural women.
Speaking on the initiative, CEO, Nand Ghar, Shashi Arora, said, “Empowering women with the tools of digital entrepreneurship is critical to building resilient rural economies. Through Nand Ghar, we are committed to creating opportunities that enable rural women to become financially independent, confident, and active contributors to their communities. Our partnership with Frontier Markets will help unlock the potential of rural women by connecting them with technology, training, and market opportunities.”
The collaboration combines Vedanta’s community infrastructure through the Nand Ghar network with Frontier Markets’ expertise in rural commerce, digital platforms, and women-led distribution models, enabling rural women to access new pathways for entrepreneurship and income generation.
Adding on to this, Founder & CEO, Frontier Markets, Ajaita Shah, said, “At Frontier Markets, we believe rural women are powerful drivers of economic change when equipped with the right tools and opportunities. Through our partnership with Nand Ghar, we are enabling women in Bharatpur to become digitally empowered entrepreneurs who can access markets, serve their communities, and build sustainable livelihoods. By combining technology, training, and local networks, this initiative will help unlock new pathways for women’s economic participation and leadership in rural India.”
This initiative marks a significant step in advancing women’s economic empowerment by equipping rural women with the digital skills, market exposure, and livelihood opportunities needed to build sustainable enterprises. The programme further reinforces Vedanta’s long-standing commitment to building a self-reliant and empowered Bharat, where women have the tools, skills, and opportunities to create dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
Through the Nand Ghar initiative, Vedanta’s Anil Agarwal Foundation continues to strengthen grassroots communities by supporting nutrition, early childhood education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment across rural India.
