MUMBAI (India CSR): On the occasion of International Day of Forests, Marico Limited, one of India’s leading FMCG companies, has made significant strides in its afforestation initiatives, reinforcing its commitment towards agrarian community development. The company has successfully planted 2.25 lakh of saplings till date across key regions, including Jalgaon, Sanand, and Perundurai, underscoring the company’s dedication to afforestation as a key pillar of its CSR objects. Marico has covered approximately 200 acres of land through its afforestation programme.
Focus on Biodiversity Conservation
Recognizing the importance of biodiversity conservation, community need, afforestation programme focus on increasing green cover, improving soil health, and enhancing the local ecosystem.

Positive Ecological Impact
The initiative has resulted in a noticeable increase in native bird species and small mammals, contributing to ecological balance. The company has also implemented innovative planting techniques, such as drip irrigation, using green energy by installing solar panels, agroforestry models, central plantations of fruit trees to enhance afforestation outcomes. These methods not only enhance forest cover but also create income-generation opportunities for farmers, ensuring long-term economic returns.
Livelihood and Land Improvement
The overall objective of the programme is to provide livelihood opportunities to farmers, SHGs and also enhancing the quality of land for the benefit of the local community.

Innovative Afforestation Techniques
Marico’s Afforestation programme is a combination of Miyawaki, cropping of climate-resilient plant-Moringa and Community based programme. Projects sites are provided by the Gram panchayat and municipal corporation.

Community Participation and Monitoring
There is active participation of the community, and their involvement ensure the monitoring of the project site. Employee volunteering and community engagement programs conducted to raise awareness and encourage participation in forest conservation efforts.
