MUMBAI: Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) – Mumbai is a premier Social Sciences institution in India. Boasting of 75 years of teaching and student excellence, TISS belongs to a league of institutions that have meaningfully contributed in shaping the history of this country.
The placement week is scheduled to be during February 4 to 10, 2013, followed by roolling placement on weekends. TISS has invited organization for final placement of students, Prof Garain, Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC), School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences informed INDIACSR.
A total of 181 graduating students are available for final placement from the School of Social Work. Graduates are suitable for lateral entry as well as freshers’ positions. Graduating students have a background of basic education in social work and fields of social sciences, engineering, medical, agriculture, law, science, commerce, management, and also have prior work experience before joining TISS – M A Social Work Program.
NGOs, Corporate Foundations, Funding Agencies, Government Organizations, CSR Divisions of Industry, Chambers of Commerce and Academic Institutions has been identified as prospective recruiters.
The School of Social Work at Tata Institute of Social Sciences anchor the flagship M A Social Work Program preparing graduates to work in various domains including community organization and development, women and child development, community health and mental health, rural development, criminology and justice system, dalit and tribal issues, NGO management, corporate social responsibility (CSR), livelihood, social business and entrepreneurship, micro finance, social security, disaster, impoverishment and social vulnerability, disability rehabilitation.
The graduating students are trained to develop perspectives and acquire skillsin the areas including rights based approach, need assessment, project conceiving, formulating appraising, monitoring and evaluation, documentation, survey and research, impact assessment, counseling, working with individuals, groups and communities, mobilizing financial and non-financial resources, planning, organizing and conducting training programs, networking and constitution building, organizational behavior and development, governance, gender issues.
